I have come to believe that Tim Keller is the one of the best teacher/preacher that I have ever read or listened to. These sermons have helped me draw closer and see more if the beauty of what the Father, the Son and the Spirit have done and are doing on this earth and in His people. I am so strengthened, so free,so assured of His salvation and d therefore free of fear and un needy of others approval. Thank the Lord for His marvelous ways of growing us up❣️

Beautiful enriching sermon. I love how Timothy Keller always reminded us that we can never be lukewarm about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Either people should hate him or we should bow down and accept him as King. There is no inbetween. Wonderful exposition of Gods word.

I love his way of preaching. He uses the scriptures to teach us obedience in character by total trust in God saving us as He knows we need. It can be in great troubles and distresses, or failures, or ill health ( Joni Eareckson Tada comes to mind) or sacrifices. He is working to conform us to the image of His Son,and that will hurt a lot because we are all prideful.

Virginia, this is Dennis responding. I'm praying for you and your cousin. Keep in mind that grief and depression take time to heal. Your cousin may not be in a place to be cheerful or positive. But God is still with her and with you also. Perhaps you can be a prayer companion and a source of God's comfort and strength on your cousin's behalf.

He lost me at “he loved the sinner and hated the sin” Last time I checked, it is the sinner who will burn eternally in hell, not just sin. God is patiently waiting for the day of judgement- for His children to live eternally with Him, and for His enemies to parish forever.

The issue with the typical “love the sinner and hate the sin” is that it uses the world’s definition of love, which nowadays means fully agreeing with someone, which also includes being lenient with sin. But if you listened to the whole sermon, you’ll see that it isn’t what Tim Keller was teaching at all. He said anger itself is not a sin (Ephesians 4:26), and not getting angry at what we should be angry at is also a sin. God did in fact love sinners, just not in the world’s definition of love. God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). God’s love and justice are not mutually exclusive, but are 2 sides of the same coin. As Tim Keller explained, the source of anger is seeing something we love come under threat. God’s anger is due to us coming under the threat of sin. Therefore loving someone is not the same as tolerating their sins. Sometimes it is even more difficult to speak the truth in love than to stay silent. But as Tim Keller said, when we get angry, we need to ask ourselves, what is the thing that we love that is causing us to get angry? Is it God’s righteousness, or is it our own ego?

If you're experiencing a time of suffering and deciding whether to listen to this sermon or not; stop right now and listen. It is filled with powerful insights to help. It reminds me of a recent quote from Jane Marczewsky; who was a singing contestant on America's Got Talent. She performed during the final stages of her terminal cancer. The judges asked how she could be so upbeat when she is so sick? Her response: "I've decided that you can't wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy." She passed about a year later in 2023.

Dennis, best advice anyone can give. I've heard this message a few times before. I wanted to share it with my cousin who's severely depressed. She's in hospital right now. I loved what Jane M told the judges. She's absolutely right. That's the message I wanted to pass on to my cousin. Thank you. Greetings from Australia
