I disagree with how you said jazz was born from the afro americans as mmost jazz artist in the 20s and 30s were white. However, there are still some very prominaint african american jazz artist such as Louis Armstrong

Well you are right on the point that most jazz artist that were mostly popular at the time for the major part were white but let's remember that in this period there was still the segregation and a lot of discrimination against the afro American community so even in the show business and entrainment industry white people had the spotlight and were very favored, so many talented afro American artists are forgotten or not acknowledged in the midst) - Then my second point is that is true that jazz was born in the Afro American community more specifically in New Orleans if you check most sources they all agree that was born between the the 19th and 20th century from the mixture of blues, ragtime,work songs and military marches with European music
