The production value of this video is shocking compared to the subs/views. Very well made! Greetings from NRW!

unfortunately you don't support your video in any data, and most of the sentences are either wrong or wrong formulated... I totally recommend to recheck the data (in numbers) and specially the recycling companies already working

On Chapter 1: I disagree my main reason to wanting to switch to EV is because they are cheaper to fuel and maintain. I imagine a lot of people feel the same. On Chapter 2: If you fuel a EV from a coal power plant it does not negate the environmental benefit. An EV powered from a coal power plant is still better for the environment than a petrol car see "Yes, Electric Cars Are Cleaner, Even When The Power Comes From Coal" - Forbes The entire lifecycle of EV has been assessed and found that the EV breaks even CO2 wise relatively early in the cars lifespan, see the Volvo C40 study. Modern EVs have ranges measured in multiple hundreds of miles, however, yes I generally wouldn't recommend an EV to someone who regularly drives further than the range an EV can provide. I'm in favour of multiple types of vehicles based on your use case. If you drive 30 miles round trip to work every day, have a driveway and solar panels, why on earth would you drive ICE? if you drive 300+ miles every week, maybe an EV isn't for you right now. On Chapter 3: Your recommendation of a hybrid to have an impact on the environment is self contradictory. You can't say battery bad for environment, but battery+gas good. Hybrid cars are a great solution for people that need to drive long range but also want to save money and help the environment by running on battery where possible. In general this video seems really factually questionable. There's stuff that's factually wrong (eg if you fuel a EV from a coal power plant it negates the environmental benefit), there's misleading stuff (eg Saying you have to assess the entire lifetime of the car, but if you do, the EV wins) and I feel that in general it paints an inaccurate picture of reality. My general recommendation these days is if you have a place you can charge it, and you aren't regularly driving long distance, and you can afford it, EVs are just better. You save so much in fuel that the car functionally pays for itself in savings in a lot of cases.

I appreciate you taking the time to write such comment :) let me try to address some of your points: - The main reason that we mentioned in chapter 1 was the global narrative of what most goverments and NGOs are stating. I'm sure individuals such as yourself have different reasons of course. - Maybe "negate the environmental benefit" was a strong statement but yes I agree with you :) - Yes I agree with you on the different cases of using EVs vs ICEs regarding their range :) - Batteries on Hybrid cars are much smaller than EVs, therefor to make them is much less harmful to the environment. To be honest I dont see the contradiction here. Thank you again for your comment, you raise very good points sir ;)

@@TimeForElectric Seems reasonable. I felt that this video was promoting a few of the common EV myths (eg that they are worse for the environment) so wanted to correct it. My logic with hybrids was essentially that if you say a BEV is worse for the environment, then a BEV that also has an engine (aka a hybrid) must also be bad for the environment. I can see the logic that the battery is smaller, but the point you was making is that a BEV is bad because you charge it using dirty power, and the same would apply to a hybrid too. Basically you're saying that, emissions wise, Battery > ICE, but Battery+ICE < ICE. That doesn't math. Also, in the interest of being useful for the future. Perhaps you should think about the costs, because like I say, the costs are absolutely insane. I'm going to be getting my first car soon, and looking at a Nissan Leaf. If you compare it to a similar ICE, say a Ford Fiesta with 1 litre Ecoboost petrol engine, driving the uk average miles a year (7,400): Inital cost: Leaf: ~£8k, Fiesta: ~£7k (from a quick look at autotrader, I filtered for newer than 2020 sort by price lowest first) Fuel: Leaf: £355.52 (7400 miles @ 16p/kwh @ 3.33kwh/mile) Fiesta: £1,112.37 (7400 miles @ 148.8p/litre @ 45mpg) Road tax: Leaf £0, Fiesta £190 Year 1 TCO: Leaf: £8,355.52, Fiesta: £8,302 Year 2 TCO: Leaf: £8,711.04, Fiesta: £9,414.37 And of course only gets worse from here. This also ignores that EVs are typically cheaper to maintain than ICE, and that you can get even cheaper electricity (eg 9p/kwh Octopus go) which almost halves the electricity cost I quoted above. If you don't need the range and have a place to charge it, there's just no contest. For me, the 145 mile range is enough for 99% of the real world driving I'm gonna do, and for that 1% I'll just suck it up and stop at a charger and pay for the expensive power. Overall, I'll save mountains of time and money by using a BEV, all while being great for the environment. But your video doesn't really accurately portray that reality.

As of today (January 6, 2024), NIO has performed more than 35 million battery swaps. If battery swap rate remains the same, by the end of 2024 NIO will reach 60 million swaps cumulative. Recently, NIO ET7 has made 1044 km on a single charge with 150 kWh battery, with 3% of battery capacity left. It was rather cold day, about 7 Celsius degrees, so they had heating on. The latest battery swap stations replace battery in 3 minutes and entire cycle takes up to 5 minutes (probably close to 5).
