This is so cool! I'm taking a Model-T driver's training at the AACA Classic Car Museum in Hershey, PA, next month (July 2024). It's a four hour course. $160 bucks. I'm so excited. 😅

If you stahl the engine do you have to get out and start it again?

I wouldn’t pull the crank like this. The guy is going to break his arm. The Ford driving manual tells you how to actually pull the crank.

Why did they do it this way? I mean, I get it, we have hindsight and these were trailblazers but, why so complicated? Was it necessary in their mind?

As the old timers once told this old timer its practical to learn reverse in this car when you encounter a steep hill.

I wonder how many people, horses and dogs were ran over in them days when the driver would panic and forget the sequence to stop.

Awesome video! My dad was born in 1922 and learned to drive in Dodge City, Kansas. He told me his first car was a well worn Model T. He told me he paid 40 dollars for the car and 40 cents for the driver's license as a teen.

So it kinda does work like a lawnmower. You got the clutch and gas controller to accelerate and then once your in high gear, you just use the gas thing to adjust speed. This may not be easy to operate like a modern car, but it sure looks fun to drive

Always curious about how to operate one. I will never complain about having to replace my starter motor again.

I took driving test in a old 1950s right hand drive, sliding door postal Jeep. I loved it. I drove it for two years until I bought my Chevy II. It was a fun car.

I've never seen a car with more ways to hurt you before you even move it lol. No one has ever been like "now be careful when you start it or it could break your arm/thumb" when i've hopped in there car.

Great video! Glad I don't have to put up with all that! BTW, I think the reason Henry made the model T left-hand drive was because he was left-handed, and wanted to use his strong hand on that handbrake!

My mom had to drive a Model-T 250 miles on the highway without any brakes, back in 1942. Can't imagine doing that today!

My Dad came to America in 08 at 15 and he eventually got a Model T. He once missed the bias and banged into a tree. He took it to a blacksmith and had the fender straightened. Eventually he and his buddy that came from Europe with him decided to go to LA. They set out in the Model T and I'm not sure how far they got, but a farmer traded the Ford for a train ticket to LA and the rest is more history. What a great moment for me. Thanks!

Yeah…the brake, such that it is. Using reverse to stop a T had one caveat. When the T stops get your foot off the reverse pedal immediately or you will reverse.

What power engine do model Ts have? Many owners either go to an engine builder for a high powered engine or install a supercharger

You prime it with the right hand. You start it with the left hand. I can't wait until it kicks back while he starting it with his right hand. Broken wrist!
