They really forgot to make this movie more pirates and less comedic love. I mean you had Dutchman, Black Pearl, Queen Anne and Silent Mary all in one movie, how can you mess *that* up?

He wasn't much of a hero though, every time he tried to harm or steal from Jack it ended in ruin for him. Steals the pearl, gets cursed and then dies Comes back, steals the pearl again, loses it and his leg to blackbeard Gets Blackbeards ship, uses Shansa the witch to curse his enemies (likely the reason jack has such awful luck between stranger tides and dead men tell no tales), leads to jack giving up his compass which kicks off the events that lead to Barbossa dying in the end. He's likeable, but his only heroic moment was saving his daughter, besides that his "heroic" acts in 3 were only for the deal he made with Tia Dalma/Calypso bringing him back, and 4 was to get revenge against Blackbeard.

Looking back, the plot wasn’t awful. But they wrote Jack as an idiot. This and add on the actual stuff happening to Johnny at the time made it difficult to bring back the Jack we all love.

I thought that the Captain and crew of the Flying Dutchman change into sea creatures when they stopped ferrying the souls of people who died at sea? The way Tia Dalma described it was Davy Jones turned tentacles when he stopped doing his ferrymen work.

It’s always the same, when the want money, they Change the Tale.
