Ho lee carrrapp! Yes, I know this video is two years old. I just saw it now, and I can’t go back in time. But if I could, I would say that this breakdown Is EXACTLY the one I needed to learn this incredibly unique and creative display of guitar virtuosity that only Elliot Easton would come up with (Warning: run-on sentence alert). Put on virtually any Cars song and listen to the guitar composition that Elliot contributes. Genius. Thanks for your video that allowed me to learn this song in the format that connected with me.

You do need to learn how to tell the difference between a pedal steel and a lap steel or slide guitar. You can see for yourself in a live video where Pee Wee Charles plays pedal steel. It wouldn't have been hard to find. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i7F6gaWpqamxeac.html

@desisernaguitar9 күн бұрын
Sometimes guitarists tune all their strings down a half-step. That tuning is called E flat.

So it capture a specific setup of the amp? Meaning that you can’t simulate, for exemple, how the amp will respond to volume (valve saturation) or ad and reduce the gain in the profile?
@desisernaguitar22 күн бұрын
Correct, but you do have limited control of those parameters. However, they’ve now introduced something called liquid profiles that give you more of the control you get from a modeler. You can also add stomps such as boost and overdrive to increase the saturation of your sound.

Great video Desi! That is a lot of stuff to learn. Any tips on how to remember all the song parts and changes and lead parts? Do you use any memory aids?
@desisernaguitar27 күн бұрын
I use lots of memory aids. I'm always thinking about the key and how things connect. I tap my foot and count breaks. I could do a whole lesson on what goes through my mind. It would be similar to my How Does This Song Work breakdowns.

hello desi. i usually like to listen to you while doing sport, it is practical. but this podcast needs video. i got mostly what you have explained , but a visual would be needed. i want to add that the more i listen to you, the more amazed i am what an extraordinary guitarist and juke box you are. so clean in your playing . i would like sometime to be able to play half as good as you. but i am old 52 and very low on the intermediate scale, but i do what i can

Awesome video. It had the guitar placement tips I was looking for. I have some long time ago experience playing ukulele. I’m now trying a 3/4 size Squier Mini Strat. With my middle finger at 2.75”, it is a challenge but I’m confident it will get easier in time.

Easton talks about the mystery of that lick in this video, at about the 8:30 mark <kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a9Bxqd2Wtqu2ZIE.html>. He confirms that it's about chord substitutions, and I think a part of the reason he does it (though he doesn't say) is he sometimes throws in some of the other notes of these relative minor chords. For example, in this vid, the first time he demos it I hear him adding a *double-stop* on that first note in the C#m position - he plays the G# below in addition to the E. I hear this in other variants and live versions he's done.
@ericthompson2018Ай бұрын
I see people have posted that video before. But listen right at 8:34, I hear a double-stop there.
