Boats, motorcycles, and aircraft can be extremely dangerous. Most American women don't understand this. They just get onboard and think it's party time. They don't understand that things can malfunction and put them in danger. Plenty of sissy boys act the same way with no idea what to do......Underway you two gentlemen found the problem, and found a way to get safely into port. I applaud you. You are Men. My wife bosses me around on a daily basis at home until she gets on my boat with her friends. I take no crap from anyone on my vessel and she knows it. I will leave them on the dock if they back-talk me about my safety rules. I live on the Gulf Coast and go out many miles.....Safety is paramount and I am responsible for these silly women. If they want to tell me I'm a jerk for insisting on a PFD that is going to give them tan-lines, fine. Stay on land. The rest of us will be back in 12 hours. None of them will join us anymore. And that's fine with me. I always go out with one of my brothers and a fully stocked toolbox. We try to be ready for anything. 20 miles offshore the last thing I want is some stupid party girl who decides she's going to go for a swim and jumps overboard. I can't have that.

Born in the water and grew up on a boat . I will be 60 in July. I never went through Lake Okeechobee to me. it's hunted, and the weather changes with no warning . I fight a gator but not going through Lake Okeechobee. Say what you want, lol. There are stories about the lake and stories about Alligator Ally 😂😂 Key West sounds nice to me, lol

Looks like a pretty calm day. Why not run offshore where possible? Not trolling, serious question. Sorry if i missed the explanation.

And as a truck driver you know what you are getting yourself into with Diesel maintenance. Do the maintenance, they run forever etc...A lot of the mentality will transfer over to boating

I crossed the Okeechobee waterway delivering my sailboat alone first time from Clearwater to Cocoa, FL. Didn't go in any marinas except Fort Meyers municipal. Anchored and docked on the free docks by the locks to overnight, otherwise. Got into some weather and fairly strong winds in the middle of the lake. Hope to do it again in 2025, but westbound towards Dry Tortugas. Fair winds.

I’m convinced. But the current price point is entirely untenable, you could drive around the earth and not save enough fuel to justify it.

That hole shot was practically non-existent... combine this with something like a Mercury Racing engine or their ProXS series, or a Yamaha VMAX SHO which are already designed to minimize hole shot and get you on plane as fast as possible and you can pretty much eliminate hole shot, it's pretty much you get on an instant plane.

I saw another video that explained the manufacturing process for these props and part of it is they 3d print the prop and use it to make the mold, they should consider just selling high quality 3d printed props for smaller boat applications if this is any better for lower rpm uses

Have you read the "THE LION'S PAW"? I grew up and went to school in Miami in the 50's, and this book was a favorite read by elementary school teachers. It was about this same journey, but as an escape.

I’ve never done the Okechobee cut, of course I have never had the need. I’m fresh out of blow boats which is my preferred method of making way. I’m usually transiting from Chesapeake to Cocoa or back like a snowbird but it is what it is.

This brings back memories of when I had a boat. Overall, I just found it stressful after a couple years, negotiating canals, channels, bridges, other boats/ships. I sold it and bought a house with a lovely back yard and pond. Once a year I go on a luxury cruise in EU and let someone else do the driving! This is just me--if you enjoy full-time boating I envy you!

I grew up in Minnesota, and best advice to the Grate Lakes.. Treat them like you are on the seas when it comes to waves/storms... They are very big and extremely deep. So deep part of the depth is to cold and low o2 count for anything to eat the wrecks....

Who set up that autopilot? Considering the age of the St-60 instruments and the plotters, the gyro in autopilot is not working. The sea trial setup of the autopilot might have not been done. Most likely the typical cottage at the marina. A properly set up autopilot should steer this boat as if it was on rails.

Terrible state. The majority of people living in Florida will never see this side of it. Owning a boat is for the privileged, unless making a living off it. The majority of Floridians are held captive by low wages and debt. Rental properties are unaffordable, the police see the working class as a source of revenue. A police state. A shithole state. I worked the trades for 12 years in Florida, best day of my life was the day I left.

That can be said said about many states. Some are great fun if you have $$$. Not so much if you have less. That's why I moved out of CA 20 years ago. I love OR, but it's getting really expensive too. I may have to retire abroad.
