Once again I must congratulate you on your third Hallmark Christmas movie review, it is really well balanced and the narrative is very enlightening. In my case, I am a veteran of the subject and yet I detect notable hits and some omissions, but the end result is entertaining and instructive. My most sincere congratulations. In this case, the three selected for this video are of my knowledge and appreciation. "Xmas Club" is great in the development of the main and secondary characters. Being a father of a balletist daughter, the theme strikes me to the core. The main character's family (Mathison) is great and so is the main character's daughter. I'm left wondering why Hannukka's gift to the co-worker, is she an Afro-Descendant Jew? It's an interesting topic to explore given that years ago I had the honor of learning about the history of the Afro-descendant Jewish tribe in Ethiopia/Eritrea at an event in Israel (my roommate at the Kibbutz). I even met the pope equivalent figure of this religious sect, whose headquarters is in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. In Lacey's film your story lost an important element...the participation of one of the best known Italian actors of the "Cinecita" action movies...the great FRANCO NERO (the owner of the pottery factory). It is remarkable how Lacey gets for his films actors of this renown for supporting roles (remember the spectacular role of Jane Seymour in another Hallmark classic). The movie in the "Evergreen" series is very good, maybe not as charming as the first one (with Ashley Greene), but very well done. The development of the romantic premise is very light and Jill Wagner is not one of my favorites, here I feel the character is a bit stiff and the "superhandiman" is more believable; to my taste I would have selected the third in the series (with Maggie Lawson and Paul Greene). The funny thing is that by chance, on a recent trip to Vancouver, I realized that the four movies of the "Evergreen" saga were filmed not in Vermont, but in a charming little town on the outskirts of this city, very close to the cold beaches of the bay, called Burnaby, which is a marvel, and thanks to Hallmark is now a tourist destination. The cafe and library are real and I had one of the best apple ciders I can remember.

You have shown to have such amazing insight to share and this is no exception! I had a feeling Franco Nero was pretty big but I had no personal knowledge of him other than he was fantastic and has a fabulous screen-presence in Christmas in Rome. And I love that you have a daughter who dances ballet. I have two boys so it was all sports and marching band in our house. You are clearly far more world-traveled than I, and I enjoy reading about your experiences, particularly in learning about the “Afro-descendant Jewish tribe in Ethiopia/Eritrea at an event in Israel.” Now that my boys are grown I hope to be able to travel more, and Burnaby is definitely now on my list, too. Being closer to the west coast, as I am, that shouldn’t be too difficult to go see. Thank you for sharing, as always!

@@MagicalMovieClub I am pleased to tell you that this afternoon I went back to see "Xmas in Rome" (I think this is the fourth time I've enjoyed it) and I was reaffirmed by the concepts of your video, plus every line assigned to Franco Nero is quasi-philosophical. It really is a great film full of great nuances and remarkable views of Rome. Sam Page has done few productions for Hallmark, but they are all brilliant, I feel he should get more opportunities. Outside of Hallmark, the character of "Richard" in "The Bold Type" series was delightful. The concept of the "cafe in suspense" is beautiful. I have flipped the coin nine times in Trevi and have always returned (I confess I didn't know the story of the three coins), there is a small "gelateria" in front of the fountain, on your right if you are facing the main façade, there you can buy a "gelato in suspense" in the summer season for the indigent and that guarantees, according to the grandmother who owns the gelateria, prosperity on your return home for the person who donates the gelato. The scenes in the bakery are great...

Watched it again last night and the comment that there was "absolutely no romance, none" is counter to my take. The initial playful banter, including the pushed book off the desk, the shared intimate communication with the walks, including taking her hand for one, the kiss, the trip catching incident, the closing scene with what I took as playful (you could have texted) were clearly Romantic. My take on your "work not Ava" line differs. He put tenure on hold for her and it was the proposal that brought him back, his proposal that no doubt was included just for this reason to return. I enjoy this more each time I watch, since 5 stars. David

My take was quite different. This is currently one of my favorite Andrew Walker movies. I have watched this repeatedly, usually late at night. Thought Margaret Clunie's character started out a little flat, yet her charm, personality, and attractivess rose considerably. Avoid polarized statements such as no romance. My view was that the lines were underplayed and meant to be playful (could have just texted). A reverse hyperbole. Loved the supporting cast, secondary story lines, and rather clever uses of humor. Overall I will watch this again and again. 4.5

I really must congratulate for the two videos of "Xmas Hallmark", coincidentally between them you have selected 4 cases that I already knew and two that I didn't, one in each video. I immediately focused on watching those two cases... "Xmas at the Starlink" and "Xmas under the Stars", the first one I got and enjoyed before the disgrace of "Snowflakes" and the impact on this last one was brutal and devastating. I practically only finished watching "Snowflakes" to contrast it with your comments in the video review. Everything absolutely everything that you highlighted as relevant in "Starlink" is what miserably undercuts "Snowflakes". I will watch the other pending movie today and in it I am surprised that I didn't know her, I love Autumn Reeser. SPOILER ALERT, the movie "Operation Nutcracker" (not yet available on the channel, but available on Hallmark Media) is great, brilliant, emotional...beautiful. It is the opposite of "Snowflakes". I hope my two favorites make it to your "Xmas Hallmark" list: ONE ROYAL HOLIDAY and THE XMAS SECRET (with Bethany Joy-Lenz) ...

@@MagicalMovieClub I already saw the second one...I loved 90% of it...the ending felt a bit rushed...how would a purchase of financial debt with a hint of fraud work? I don't understand that arrangement...and the evolution towards the happy ending was nice but a bit shaky. The plot drawing of the 5 characters was remarkable, I loved the Christmas tree salesman and Nick's father, and the new family with the child was brilliant....

No doubt, a superb production. Nonetheless I find the pathos so powerful that it is emotionally tasking. I have watched this film repeatedly and need to be more centered when I do so. I prefer a little more fantasy than reality. I wanted Emily to dump the boyfriend earlier and with more penash. So 4.5. David

Looking for an alternative to the well-worn opening scene of the protagonists' physical clash...an interesting alternative was a mix-up with an order of fries in the 2006 classic "The Xmas Card," which I highly recommend.

I wrote a quick reaction to your video. Today we are at opposite points in this movie. I liked it a lot, because the pivot of the movie was not the romance, but what surrounds it (the beauty of Malta, the culture and above all, the wonderful story of the bees, which I confirm that it is totally true), and in this case it was very well developed in the plot. I loved the female lead (who I remember her role in VICTORIA, a UK series), because her love was not initially her male counterpart, but through the arc of the story, external constraints led to the romance. She is totally captivating and her performance was outstanding, I agree that the story of the crash is already hackneyed on Hallmark, but let's face it, "the accident" was very realistic. The evolution of the romance was nice and the play on the external conditions was very interesting and the risk of doing it with archeological elements (which I have personally seen in Malta) was well constructed. I give it 4.5 out of 5. Also the "subplot" of the sister's romance was very well constructed and interpreted.

Nice review! I've seen every Hallmark movie at least 20 times because my 95 year old mother keeps the channel on all day every day. I couldn't make it half way through this piece of junk. Zero chemistry between the leads. ZERO. Her father is obviously running a puppy mill if that female is pregnant with a couple of weeks to go and her previous litter is only 8 - 12 weeks old. They never said it wasn't her litter. Oh, no store of any kind would have bird feeders on display inside or outside the store WITH SEED IN THEM. At this point I decided to look up the director. Now it all makes sense why this felt like a Disney comedy tv series. Hallmark seems to be slipping back into their old habits of being on the wrong side what's appropriate as if they are pulling all their ideas/concepts from the 1950's... AGAIN. Puppy mills are bad! Floating lanterns with candles in them are BAD. For every step they take forward, and they do take many steps forward, they take sooooo many back it's painful to watch. You can really see the struggle in these movies of who get's to decide what stays in the script. I actually prefer the movies shot before 2015, at least the romance feels more real. Anyway, let's just pretend this one never happened k?

You want to know what we think of Sarah Drew? Love Guiding Emily. Great film along with Branching Out. Branching Out had me in wonderful tears throughout. Juan is so kind with so much love to give. His Father is also kind, but wise and loving (kisses his grown son on the forehead), and the song Juan plays and sings in the Cruz’ store. It is such a beautiful movie and I don’t mind crying over the love, joy and happiness. I will watch it whenever it comes on the Hallmark channel

Your assestment of this film was surgical. I really didn't like this film at all (I saw it last year) and I have always considered HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES to present better quality work than the average HALLMARK film. From there I've seen several gems, this one didn't even come close to cheap costume jewelry in every angle, nothing was salvageable. My rating was 1.5 out of 5 and I'm being generous because I really like Andrea Brooks' style. Andrea and Patch have another non-Hallmark movie that was more redeemable: THE WEDDING FIX...nice and enjoyable...I recommend it. PS...you didn't like it so much that you didn't say anything about that rushed and improvised ending...hahahaha I don't blame you.

You asked us if you should prepare a review for a Christmas movie, definitely "Xmas in Vienna" with Sarah Drew is an excellent choice, the plot and the excellent scenic production considering the wonderful city of Vienna, definitely put this movie among the best of the Christmas format. However, if you ask for my best recommendation for a review I would definitely recommend "ONE ROYAL HOLIDAY" as perfection in the genre since Hallmark. Most of the ensemble cast are proven Broadway pedigree actors and the title song sung by the two lead actors is a gem.

I was definitely looking forward to your review of this wonderful movie, and in general the quality of your comments is excellent, except that I would not give it 4.5, I assigned it 6.0, because it is excellent in all aspects of production, characters, artists and plots. Perhaps you highlighted the only flaw in the film with the 7 A.M. alarm clock issue. If I may please be allowed a healthy criticism, in your review you rushed and omitted quite a few important plot details that for my taste were important and highlight the overall quality of the film and my rating: the intercultural details in the interaction with the family seems to me a relevant fact, which occurs in several moments that were not considered in your review, for example when the girl discovers the flavors of the family desserts linked to the Mexican cultural background, the dialogue with the sisters and the mother, the fact that Amelia has not used the WhatsApp group until the invitation to Ruby's presentation and above all: the FIESTA and everything that happened in it. For me this movie has been the best so far this year and I definitely included it in my TOP5 of all time HALLMARK.

I am originally from San Diego, have many friends whose families are from Mexico, and have been to FIESTAs very similar to what we see in this movie. Thank you so much for your review of this movie. I especially appreciate discovering from you that this is based on a book and providing the author. The two books in the "Finding Emily" series are now on my 'to read' list. There are a few differences between the book and the movie. Firstly the book is set in Britain not America. And Connor and Emily are newly weds in the book, which makes that situation worse. So anyone wanting to read the book and expecting the same story, needs to be aware of this. But on Good Reads the views are predominantly 5 star reviews. Plus the author explains why she felt led to write the book and it's sequel. The sequel was in part because those struggling with sight issues had written her Thank you letters. What a recommendation. Again Thank you.

This was the most accurate and surgical review I have seen of your channel. I definitely share it, I liked the movie a lot, I enjoyed it but definitely the beauty of the premise of the plot (the 5 principles, the conflict of faith, the resilience, the romance of the protagonists and the love of the father) are lost within several plot holes. The 20K gift thing seemed rushed and the wedding business idea was blatantly pulled out of the bag. Too bad...because I love Aimee Teagarden, if you want to see a good hallmark movie from her, please see ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE and also HEART OF THE MATTER, also NEW YEAR RESOLUTION is nice. She has two very good non-hallmark movies: My Brooklyn Bakery and The Road to Galena. If on the way during your Disney weekend you want to review a historical Christmas movie, the one I mentioned earlier from AIMEE is a good choice, or better yet ONE ROYAL HOLIDAY...it's a marvel starting with its entire cast being Broadway veterans in a great Hallmark story, part of my Christmas Top3. www.hallmarkchannel.com/one-royal-holiday

I have reviewed three new videos: Totally agree with "Scottish Love Scheme", brilliant plot, wonderful scenography, impeccable editing and brilliant characters...authentic to the core. I do not share your assessment of the story about the character of the child, I think it is well presented and acted. I give it 5 rolls. Very much agree with "Loving Passport", terrible acting, brilliant plot and wonderful scenery, but the weak acting of the two main characters ruins everything. I give it two rolls. The comparison with "Bramble House Xmas" was deadly and merciless...no room for comparison with Autumn Reeser. Respectfully disagree with "More Love Grows", I give it 4 rolls. I think your assessment misses two important details: the brutality of the divorce news and the important relationship with the rocker friend is vital to understanding the evolution of the love plot. The touch with the doggy is great and the fact that she is the nexus that facilitates the love relationship is well worked. Thanks to your previous mention of "Christmas Club", I saw it for the first time this afternoon...great...I loved it. It's already on my top10 Hallmark list. The construction of the love relationship of the two characters is mature and beautifully crafted. GAC has accomplished something similar with "My American Hero" (with Candace Bure) and "Jingle Bell Princess" (with Merritt Petterson), I recommend them for review, without a doubt their best movies in their repertoire to take on Hallmark.

Respectfully disagree with "Come Fly with me", I feel your review was not fair, for my taste, the whole movie was excellent...I would debate between 4.5 to 5 rolls. I would love a review from your pen of my lifetime Hallmark top 3: Harvest Moon (2015), One Royal Holiday (2019) and My Lost Valentine (2005)...and Christmas Card (2006) as my plea bonus. To me the film didnt seem to flow very well but allthough Olivier Renauds character was dismissive, I loved the expressions on his face! As I'm from the UK, I watched an awful youtube copy of the film, without any sound on the finale! Someone else loaded a better version and I loved that 'Catch Me' song and the music really expanded as they climbed higher, the scene reaching a plateau. Olivier Renaud is so talented and handsome. I thought the romance could have been concentrated on more, showing some build-up. Luna's family's parts seemed quite long and I was a little bored! I thought Bennet was really sweet in the car dropping Luna off. I thought his nervousness was realistic. There was some chemistry between the characters but I think he should have given her a hug somewhere, showing more warmth! I just love the part where Luna forgets her boots and Bennett says something like "whoops" as she passes. It was sort of cheeky but not nasty. Did you see Christmas on 5th Avenue? FAB! Also the interview with the 2 stars. He is a lovely man in real life.
