Will there be a part 2 ? There’s so much worthy knigths you didn’t mention yet : Count Roland, William the Conqueror or Joan of Arc for instance.

One water spring with monument near the fortress of Golubac bears the name of Zawisza the Black. Supposedly he was executed on that spot by the Turks.

Very nice stuff. As an interesting fact, I can add that in Poland we have a popular adage: "Można na nim polegać, tak jak na Zawiszy" ("You can rely on him like you can rely on Zawisza".) . This means someone you can always rely on, faithful to his word, willing to help and support.

In ancient Greek there were 8 types of love, only one referring to sexual love. Whenever modern "historians" translate any of the 8 distinct words for love in English they just use love, mostly to push their own propaganda. There was nothing sexual between the "male lovers" of the Band of Thebes. in fact such an act between citizens(which they were) was illegal, and the receiving party was criminalized, potentially exiled or executed. The "lover" suffix refers to the sacred oaths that a couple undertakes that they need to protect each other in battle, and if one dies in battle, the other needs to die too in the same battle. This is a common battle brother oath that many military societies in the ancient world had, and the specifics of what a battle brother meant then, which was different than simply being a comrade in the same unit. It's basically "historians" taking advantage of the ignorance of modern people to ancient Greek language. In the whole of ancient Greek literature that we have, gay sexual behavior appears only twice, and neither time is consensual or referred to as love.

Thery interesting that in the list of deadliest units we have immortals but not spartans who held them for 3 days before being betrayed, and eagle and jaguar warriors know for their bravery while defeated by a lot smaller spanish forces mostly because of everyone run away.

You did not mention The Order of the Dragon? I understand that it existed far later in history, but they fought the Turks on many occasions.

They were a chivalric order established by the Hungarian monarchy. I only talked about christian orders that originated as religious groups (billed by the pope).

A lot of these groups are regular soldiers, not elite units. Hoplites for example, were just the generic name for the most common type of infantry of the ancient Greek city states equipped with a spear and a shield.

Ok lets see...Gallowglass would destroy the Immortals...match blow for blow any Viking (where some of these guys came from), probably have some difficulty with the Praetorians until they got close. Smash Eagle and Jaguar Warriors like toilet paper simply based on the difference in the size of the men (Gallowglass were big dudes, ask the English) and in armor and weapons. And the order of assassins well, shouldn't be on this list.

Shinobi weren’t a special class, they were just Samurai and rarely ever attempted assassination. The word ninja and the idea of Ninjutsu don’t show up in any Japanese records and were mostly created in pop culture. The kusarigama was never recorded being used as any kind of weapon, but rather as a farming tool. In general, shinobi didn’t really exist like how they’re made up to be.
