Great video ..! Only I wish I had saw this video before I did mine…😹😹😹 It’s not rocket science, but if you have never done it before after the metal knives come out it’s a good trick getting everything to go back together ….😳👀 needless to say it’s all back together and works great…👍🏻

I have three, one branded HEATHKIT, and two branded STROMBERG-CARLSON. The Heathkit is part of a system with all Heathkit components except speakers, and the S-C's fit in well with my S-C collection of radios and high fidelity components. Really good to the records, no scuffing, and accurate speed.

We're repairing one and need to replace the tiny belt (FBM 2.0?). Any idea where we can find one? We've tried a google search and Hospitality Electronic Supply.

Thinking of a factory forgetting to suck the air out of incandescent bulbs made me chuckle a bit too much. It's like hearing about an airplane factory that forgot to put wings on their planes.

Now to reduce rumble, get a silicone transistor insulator pad, cut it to the diameter of the platter bearing washer and place it between the washer and platter. You then have to shave the thickness of the insulator off the reject cam drive wheel end closest to the platter in order for the screw to go into the hole.

Westinghouse used the same black/grey/gold on white diamond design pattern for the tops of their Model 58 AC 1 & 2s. They were 4 speed mono record players with BSR changers, and were manufactured in 1959/60. The bottoms were either charcoal grey or aqua. Very cool looking.

I have a Golden Helm clock that is missing the motor. I researched the clock motors available for these clocks and found that the drive gears are different for the Golden Helm as compared to the Golden Hour. You indicated that the gear RPM for the Golden Helm is 1/12 rpm. If I could find a motor that has the same shaft RPM that drives the brass gear and is the same size as the original motor I could replace the brass gear to the proper size 37 tooth Helm gear. Any body know what the shaft speed of the motor for the Golden Helm is? It appears that the Golden Helm motors are not available anymore so a new solution to get these clocks working would be beneficial to all collectors that have these clocks.

I remember this radio at my local TV shop, I really wanted it (1964) when I was 11. It had GREAT FM reception in our fringe area. But the price was $129.95. My parents bought me a GE for $50 which was a terrible radio (very poor FM reception). I wish I would have gotten this Zenith!!

A bit of a followup, I have come up with a simpler method for modifying the Kenwood VR-208 and VR-209 for AM stereo by populating the AM stereo and AM B+ sections while leaving the FM section entirely untouched. At the moment I am thinking of documenting my method for those who are interested because there are two details that can trip some up as they are a little different than what is listed in the service manual.

I restored an old MR-1010 and it's become my benchmark MW DXing radio, easily beating my SR 2 and RF-2200 in terms of adjacent channel tuning and s/n ratio. I live in a rural area with strong daytime locals at 1090 and 1110. My test signal is a signal about 200 miles away at 1100. On every other radio I've tested, the locals bury 1100, but I can get a readable signal on the MR-1010. At night, the two locals reduce power and 1100 can be heard on the nearly anything with no problems, but the Heathkit s aufio is still superior. Sadly, there are only a few MW stations in North America with decent music programming (not syndicated talk) and I listen to the MR-1010 often. The Heathkit also has a superior longwave band. We have numerous LW aircraft beacons in a 60 mile radius and the MR-1010 works as well as my 1937 Scott radio with a long wire outdoor antenna and excellent grounding. The Heathkit circuit is analog with a counter for tuning It uses an tuned RF amplifier and ceramic filters in the IF chain which limits the bandwidth slightly. The Scott has a variable, staggered-tuned IF giving it near-FM audio quality, but it's difficult to align.. The Scott detector and AVC circuits need improvement, but it's a worthy performer when using a good antenna setup. It also has killer LW. Too bad it's not portable. The Heathkit's weakness is with noise generated from the neon readout. It uses a spring-loaded switch that momentarily turns off the readout. and I replaced it with a slide switch. I plan to attempt to improve the lamp circuit to reduce the noise, which can affect tuning. The lamp also tends to eat batteries. As a MW DXer, I'm always looking for a better radio for my collection. Please share your experiences.

I had a teddy bear made by house of lloyd. it was a brown bear in a sitting position and it had a light up heart on its chest. when you switched on the music with his right hand the heart started lighting up and the bear played songs like yellow rose of texas, happy birthday, dixie and many more. wish I could get the bear again. but they don't have it on ebay yet. If you have this bear, please do an upload for me. thanks.

I have a Model 404 that was a demo model in an Electronic Supply store in Quincy MA back in the 60-70. When I took possession of it 25+ years ago, it was in almost unused condition. It has 2 Tape marked "Demo Only" Your video has inspired me to put it on the bench and see if it still works. It did in 1998. Thanks for the inspiration.
