Congratulations! It is truly an adventure...such an adventure we did it twice in our 40' sailboat Adamant 1. We spent 5 winters in the Bahamas. So we know how terrific the trip is. Maybe you will go again. We are also the harbour hosts here in Penetanguishene.

This "Flight of 5" in Waterford is not the one that climbs the Niagra Escarpment.... this climbs up about 160 feet from the Hudson up to the Mohawk river portion of the Erie Canal. The other famous "Flight of 5" is 350 miles to your west in Lockport, New York -- and that famous flight of 5 is no longer in use - still there to your right -- but replaced by two modern locks that do indeed take you up the Niagra Escarpment ..... #themoreyouknow

This is what I was talking about in last comment. You showed the entire process and travel (mostly) from the front of the boat. Now you're giving all the pertinent information while looking into camera. It must be you Canadians, Stay Cool videos did a lot of the same. Another great video, even though I'm watching 6 months late

Wife on board to do the loop when we retire in a couple years. I'm ready now!!! Anyway, when she watches loop videos w me, her comment is I don't want to see them, I want to see what's going on in front of the boat. You are some of the ones that strike a pretty good balance of outside inside. (And I'm looking a videos for information, but I do like to see where you're going too)

Glad you like the format. It's really evolved as we have moved through our loop. It started out as just logging our travels for my parents to arm chair travel, then became something for loopers to gain from as fellow loopers began asking questions. We hope that our videos will continue to be useful to many so that others can be reassured that the loop is very doable!

I think you use an IPad for navigation. I have heard that the iPad needs to be cellular capable in order to work properly but the cellular chip is not needed. Do you know if this is correct?
@seacleflooping
@seacleflooping 16 күн бұрын
You are correct. We actually made the mistake of buying the cheaper version when we wanted to have a second iPad running a second navigation software. Had to buy another iPad with cell chip. You don’t require a cell package but it needs the internal gps that is not in the other iPad. You could also buy an external gos for the iPad.

My brother and dad use to do that at the marina right before getting onto St Simon during slack tide to a 39 ft marine trader (You know how strong they are in that area). At the time, they said so it would look to all the fishermen that they'd gone out too. Brother now claims it was so they were bow out to leave.

School was on the old Coca-cola plantation next to Evinrude's wife's marina, Outrigger, not sure what it's named now since their deaths. There were still what looked like concrete slab pieces that were suppose to be left over from the seal/frogman demolition training conducted in the area

Not sure how many people actually read other people's comments, but... Went to school for 2 years in Jensen Beach right next door to Stuart 80-82. Wonderful place, so we did a few vacations there a few years later. There's a great interactive marine display(?) on Hutchinson Is. Could feed rays and see /touch other marine life. I've seen recent videos that show it has grow larger and I assume it's still on the island. Worth checking out

Awesome Adventures! Thanks for sharing your travels with folks on youtube! We wanted to make a couple local notes as we are an historic site in the beautiful Mohawk Valley that you show so well in this video. @11:19 - Locking through at E11 near Amsterdam, NY you pan and in the background briefly is Guy Park Manor. Might be something to note for our Canadian friends that it was constructed by Sir William Johnson for his daughter and son in law, Guy. Johnson's son and Guy would be notable during the American Revolution as Loyalists to the King, eventually fleeing to Canada and settling there. @11:56 - traveling west you past by the east end of Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site at Yankee Hill Lock (#28 of the historic Enlarged Erie Canal. c. 1855-1916 use). Then Sea Clef keeps left past Pepper and Upper Pepper Islands. @12:12 - Sea Clef locks through at Tribes Hill Lock E12 - the "James Shanahan Lock". That is just across the river from the western end of our historic site. The dam is #8. @15:30 - E14 and Canajoharie is a great stop if you're not trying to avoid the storms. Nice little downtown and the amazing Arkell Museum (@arkellmuseumatcanajoharie) is worth checking out either from boat or car on NYS Thruway. St. Johnsville is a nice community as well and the marina is wonderful! @22:20 - Little Falls! A tremendous community and Lock E17 is the Largest Lift in the system! over 40feet! Moss Island is also a wonderful geological exploration. Stopping at Rotary Park in Little Falls is a great idea, wonderful amenities and access to the community. We're looking forward to checking out the rest of your adventures! If you're ever back this way, be sure to stop into Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site, Fort Hunter, Montgomery County, New York!
