I got 19/20, but I count myself this rather as a full score as I just didn't think that you would dare to use Giselle a second time (I did also know that a modern version of La Sylphide exists, "Highland Fling"...) and actually, as I did research, "Red Giselle" is actually an independent ballet about an historical ballerina. I just want to point this out as currently modern Giselle adaptions seem to be very popular, there's currently the daring Ghetto version at Estonian ballet, and there had been intriguing productions also running in my country currently, in Munich and Dresden. Anyway, I love the creative idea with this quiz. There are so multiple shades of doing a "contemporary" version and also many different examples. I know some of these, but I actually haven't watched any of these. Still, there are some mild versions between (such like Roland Petit's Coppelia, Nurejev's Cinderella or Nacho Duato's Sleeping Beauty) which I actually consider a refreshing idea (; . And I do love to imagine a bit twisted versions of classic ballets (yet not as much dark or almost "ridiculous" as some examples here (;...)
@BalletQuiz4 күн бұрын
I had no idea you were interested in contemporary dance! Thank you for the input ❤❤
@felicity18774 күн бұрын
@@BalletQuiz well, on the one hand, these productions are also reviewed and depicted as well in the Dance Europe magazin together with the classic ballet. On the other hand, I think the borders are fluent, as there are also other kind of dance styles between and also incorporated in traditional ballets such like the beautiful Spanish Dance in Swan Lake or the Highland reel in La Sylphide. Personally, as I do love watching musicals, revues or operettas and I'm probably better trained in other kind of dance than ballet, for me, it's also sometimes easier to imagine it this way. I just don't like too ugly futuristic costumes or crazy robotic chicken movements...(; I do love beautiful costumes and good storytelling. And that's why I'm sometimes rather imagining Swan Lake as sci fi ballet or as contemporary musical. I'm neither full team Grand Pas Classique nor Matthew Bourne - but in a way, I do love the long fluent dresses and open hair and strict ballet steps (;

Great new idea for the quiz! Especially interesting to see what makes the story distinctive enough to be recognisable, even in an unfamiliar dance idiom. I've seen parts of some of these, but others were new to me. I missed the second Swan Lake and Red Giselle, dithered on a couple of the others later in the video. Would definitely watch these ballets if I got the chance...Thanks for this!

I thought that it's Guillaume Diop, because that it's the Paris Opera ballet production of Don Quixote, and Guillaume Diop is the only dancer of these three that works with the Paris Opera ballet. By the way, I love that in this production of Don Quixote, the rhythm of Basilio's variation is more bopping!

That is exactly right! But, in my humble opinion, the musical version of the opera of Paris is so different from the original, that it makes it hard to watch
