This area of Maine is my home ~ you've done a nice job of showing how well the bus system works around here, and how beautiful it can be even on a foggy day ~ Come back soon.

I had to hit the mute button. The ow oww oww vamp music is really annoying. One of the joys of hiking is hearing the mountain sing to me. The wind, the birds, the crunch of scrambles, the huffing and even puffing of other hikers. I remember sitting on top of Mt. Lafayette listening to the mountain. I could see Lonesome Lake way down across the space. Spent many a night there. It was difficult to continue hiking down the trail to the Greenleaf hut, I wanted to l linger. So soothing sitting there. We hiked up here to Lafayette on the hottest day of the summer a year ago, 2023. Silly silly me. That trail runner at 13:06 is an awesome sight. Wish I could do that. Of course, he's 30 years younger than me and a strong.....male. so there I go. Those 5,000 footers are too much for me now, I keep to the 3,000 and under hikes. I hope you can keep it up when you're 75. If you keep doing it, you will. Too bad the hut is closed. Wonderful memories staying there. I've met so many nice people. Someone commented about the Bridal Trail: "If you don't have knee issues, you will after hiking down this trail." Nope, not yet. Good video of this hike, not too much 'selfies' like some videos. Happy Trails to you.
@tinwenwalks
@tinwenwalks 13 күн бұрын
Happy Trails to you as well! I’ve had knee issues since high school, surgery and all the fun stuff. I don’t know how much longer I have, but a woman hiking into her 90s once told me, “just keep moving”! So that’s the plan for now ☺️

@@tinwenwalks You are doing so well. My mind tells me I can do that hike, just go slow. The 'other' voice says: "Don't even think about it." That's my bones talking. I have to listen to both voices and will keep moving. My siblings stopped moving, now they can't move at all. Perhaps I'll see you on the trails. It's the best place to be.

Funny that you and I have walked in each others shoes so many times. I live on Vinalhaven above the Sandbar, I know Phil well, the owner of The Tidewater Motel. I walked the same paths when I was 18 when I was a Boatswains mate on the USS Kittyhawk on North Island, Coronado, San Diego. I spent six months in Newport R.I. on restricted duty, lol, (San Diego was a bit much for an immature jock from Newport Me.} Never been to Japan though I would likely spend all my time in Tokyo as I love the hustle and bustle of big city life. Noticed you haven't hiked in northern Cali up around Shasta, Oregon and Hood or Washington and Rainier. I hitchhiked up from Bakersfield Cali with my dad once, Was under a bridge outside of Grants Pass Oregon and a "hippie" picked us up in an old van, two big dogs and us. Drove up into the mountains to this beautiful home, fed us, did laundry, spent the night, fantastic breakfast and a ride back to I-5. Salmon fishing in Eugene, cross country trip from Portland Ore. in an RV to Atlanta for a family reunion, funny I was raising three of my sisters boys at the time and we stopped at every major landmark yet they couldn't care less. i was so excited for them then equality bummed at their indifference. Anyway the tales I could tell.

@@tinwenwalks Yeah she was on the TV show "Deadliest Catch" as well. "Greenlaw was the captain of the Hannah Boden in October 1991 when Andrea Gail sank in the Atlantic in the 1991 Perfect Storm. Greenlaw's efforts to warn the Andrea Gail about the impending storm were portrayed in Sebastian Junger's 1997 book The Perfect Storm and in the movie version, in which she was played by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. Junger called Greenlaw not just the only female swordfishing captain, but "one of the best captains, period, on the entire East Coast." In 1997, Greenlaw settled in Isle au Haut, and bought a lobster boat, the 35-foot Mattie Belle.[2]

@@tinwenwalks Can you imagine? Good Lord... "Being a woman hasn't been a big deal. I never anticipated problems stemming from being female, and never encountered any.
