A couple of the heats was probably a bit colder than they should have been. it was also being forged in the bright sun that day so the camera didn't pick up the color of the steel correctly.

Chair legs, thick ones, make good mandrels for shaping copper around. If they have a taper, you can use a smaller diameter at the ends and thicker in the centre to help get that C shape. Have a look out for old furniture being thrown away and get yourself a free tool. I found one which has two heavy bolts coming out of the top end which can be used to secure it in a vise (or you could just drill out a couple of holes and glue some in-just make sure they’re heavy duty, say M 16 thread).

Well I better get myself a chair leg, I have been using a vice and Anvil, the anvil horn is a bit big. Thank you for the suggestion I would have never thought of that! 😊

you see it correctly! It's a redneck gasoline grinder! 😂 I use solar for the house and small shop, So I can't use any kind of big electrical motors or anything that requires a lot of energy in 1 spot or I won't have electricity for the night. So that's why its outside so I don't die of carbon monoxide. 😂

Of course there is! quenching and tempering is an essential part of the trade without it the blade is not strong. you weren't paying attention to the video I did quench it, I did not show the temper, but I did temper it at 420.

As I do more with my channel I also will be doing the same thing! Show mistakes and how to fix or to teach others what not to do. One does not get to be a master at their trade without mistakes! Frankly those are 1/2 the fun because they force you to think about things like how you fixed this knife with a relatively simple solution instead of trashing the whole project.
