This looks like a terrible bread lame. Only half of the blade is exposed and there is no way you can cut at a good angle. Why not make a traditional, stick shaped lame?
@everything-diy

If you want to expose the full blade, you can turn the blade in any direction and clamp it between the two pieces without hooking it to the screw in the middle. It should also hold the blade pretty good.

I’m sorry being so late to the party, but did you somehow drill a hexagonal hole? I have spent the last half hour scouring the internets and I cannot find out how you did that.
@everything-diy
@everything-diy Жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry for answering so late... I assume you mean hole for the nut. I drilled just a normal round hole, a bit smaller than the diameter of the nut. When you screw the nut and the bolt together, the nut will dig in to the wood and the traction of the wood will prevent it from turning. Hope it helps :)

I would make the blade holder the same size as the blade, and the scew small enough. so the blade can be slide in and out, just by loosing the screw a 1/4 turn. During not using time, blade can be hide inside of the holder, and safely place in the drawer. Not a criticism, just an improvement! Great idea!

Do you think it would have been better not using an end grain piece? it looks great just wondered if it might snap easily compared to using a piece with the grain, if you get what I mean.
@everything-diy
@everything-diy 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah i think it would be stronger by not using an end grain piece. But the thing is, how strong do you need it to be? 🙂
@PoisonShot20

I see what you're saying, but he used a hard wood, with very tight grain.
