How do you get such a bright tone from the N string? I have this same bass and the B string is thoroughly difficult and dill sounding honestly
@paularrr
@paularrr 14 күн бұрын
I'd say it's a mix of a few things. Do you have proper tension on the B string? How do you use your EQ settings? I'm not using too much low end but more of a good mix in the mids - also I love D'addario's pro steels, they get you a liiiitle bit of extra brightness (but the strings are really not the crucial argument here)

What is Quad Cortex providing tone-wise that Parallax itself can not?
@paularrr
@paularrr 14 күн бұрын
I'd say more variety in general, but I can't really argument against the Parallax because it's THE perfect plugin for bass tone at least for me! Mainly using the quad cortex for comfort reasons as well as on stage or if I need a good guitar tone

You sounded really good. I often find the bridge PU to be useless, I liked the tapping on the neck PU more, maybe neck + middle would covered the best tones for different parts.

Accurate playing with great tone. My only criticism is the song simply doesn't sound the same if you don't tap your chest when singing ``I'm here..." xD

I was able to take a small glimpse at your MacBook. You are running your show in logic, right? Probably containing click for the band and FX/Backing Tracks for FOH. It looked like one big project for the hole gig. How do you manage pauses between songs? Does the drummer do some pause/resume?
@paularrr
@paularrr Ай бұрын
Yes, you saw that right! We time the whole setup before each show so the project can run from start to end with no manual stop/starts. If it's necessary to stop the file during the show, everyone in the band can access easily and pause/jump within the file.

Thanks so much for this! Do you share the XSW IEM with other bandmates? I am currently trying stereo in as i share it with my guitarist but have not yet gotten a good mix of the two ins. I am thinking of trying out focus mode so the guitarist can turn himself up without impacting me. Having multiple XSWs seems a bit too much atm :)

Glad you like it! We have a total of two units in the rack but the one I'm using is just for my mix while the guitarist and singer share the other unit.

Are you using a XLR splitter to FOH so you can use your own IEM setup? It's sometimes really hard to convince them to even let you unplug the mics.
@paularrr
@paularrr Ай бұрын
Yes, that's exactly how we do it. Just a simple splitter before going into the IEM. This way the FOH has their own signal as well.

I have yet to own a dingwall, which I am currently looking to buy one, but it's one of the few baas guitars that you can drop down to F# tuning and have it sound good. I have a 35" scale 5 string, and have to use .168 guage B string, active EMGs and it just doesn't sound as good as it would on a 37" scale. Plus the dingwalls are very well made.
