Listened 4x in a row, this is a VERY good rendition.

Fortunate to have sung this piece in High School with the Connecticut All State Choir in 1996. What a song. Our director slowed the tempo of the last few measures significantly, and when I hear a more crisp ending like this it throws me off a bit haha! All to one’s interpretation of the sheet, of course. But Anyway - this rendition is wonderful. Thank you 🙏

After a minute and some change. Had to try and figure out which one was hitting the high note. had to re-watch it again. Then I seem her. She can hit that note with ease. Good job kids.

This is extraordinary! I have followed the music of Argento for many decades, ever since I sang the Gloria from the Masque of Angels in undergraduate school. Complex sonorities, with his own way of using the piano. But it is his unerring clarity of imaginative word setting, matched now with your brilliant recording, in which I can hear each word of this fine poem. Going to post this on my FB page today. It needs to be heard!

My grandfather passed in 2017 and this song was the only one I remember being played at his funeral (I was young then). Listening to this song makes me feel closer to him. Thank you.

Magical! Just gorgeous voices singing challenging harmonies. I had the chance to learn and perform this music with our local chorale before the pandemic! Britton's festival has become a favorite and was the last performance I was able to participate. Thank you for sharing this sublime performance! Merry Christmas always and forever! ❤🕊️

It's a few more months since I wrote some words some three months ago. The sense of both grief and determination to do this carol - somehow - remains intact and I remain that resolute to do so! I hope that I get to do it! God willing I will!

The lyrics are from George MacDonald's "Diary of an Old Soul" (the numbers indicate the date of the entry) Jan 11. I thought that I had lost thee; but, behold! Thou comest to me from the horizon low, Across the fields outspread of green and gold-- Fair carpet for thy feet to come and go. Whence I know not, or how to me thou art come!-- Not less my spirit with calm bliss doth glow, Meeting thee only thus, in nature vague and dumb. Jan 5. Thy fishes breathe but where thy waters roll; Thy birds fly but within thy airy sea; My soul breathes only in thy infinite soul; I breathe, I think, I love, I live but thee. Oh breathe, oh think,--O Love, live into me; Unworthy is my life till all divine, Till thou see in me only what is thine. Jan 6. Then shall I breathe in sweetest sharing, then Think in harmonious consort with my kin; Then shall I love well all my [earthly friends], Feel one with theirs the life my heart within. Oh brothers! sisters holy! hearts divine! Then I shall be all yours, and nothing mine-- To every human heart a mother-twin. Amen, amen…
