Pedal Steel is like rocket science to me. I don't know how anybody can play that thing. Great job.

That's outstanding my man! How long did it take to get to that level of playing? (Asking for a guitar playing friend 😁)
@jessecunningham3 ай бұрын
I think at the time of that video maybe 6 or 7 years. I once had a friend tell me that with pedal steel it takes about five years to suck.

I love the playing you do here. Just enough flourishes on the original that shows you're a serious musician, without losing the song under everything. I loved this.

Funny, I love Telecasters, but they're better with some age on them, like a smokehouse ham from my Uncle Leo's!
@dannymuhammad83214 ай бұрын
Yes you are getting there. The number one thing you need to work on is getting in tune.. Pay a lot of attention to the pitch. I would strongly suggest you tune everything 440.. It's much easier to get in tune with a track.. Because the track is equal temperament. I've been playing petal steel guitar for 50 years. I still struggle with pitch..

This is exactly the background music you hear during the Dukes of Hazzard car chases! Makes my foot heavier when I listen to it while driving! Do you have an album with longer versions of this type of solo performance ?

@jessecunningham6 ай бұрын
It really is comfortable. I hadn't had one since I was 18. I thought maybe I was crazy to order a V since I mostly play old school country and rockabilly stuff, but it does that stuff great! It's surprisingly versatile.

What are your settings on the Tone Master Twin? Sounds great!!
@jessecunningham4 ай бұрын
Hey, sorry, somehow I missed your question. I try to set the output so that I can run the volume around 5 or 6 and the Verb around 4. I usually run the Treble and a Bass around 5 and the mids somewhere around 4. All of those I dial in a little up or down based on the room, but that's generally where I start. One thing I will say, is if you have one, do the update. It makes the tone controls and verb much more controllable.

You're getting there. You don't need to pick every time you play a chord or a note. also it helps to keep your volume a little more steady and gradually Bring it up.. But yet it's much smoother to not pick every phrase.. I learned that from Emmons
@jessecunningham8 ай бұрын
Hey Danny, thanks a ton for the kind words, encouragement and advice. That means a lot coming from such a great player as yourself. I'll definitely work on all that. The "over picking" is a bad habit I have on guitar too that I've been trying to break for years.... I don't do it on purpose, I think it's something I do subconsciously for timing or something.

Thanks, you showed me a steel lick I've been looking for a long time. The one in the 5 chord bouncing 2 frets back and forth.
@jessecunningham8 ай бұрын
Nice! I’m glad the video helped. That’s a pretty useful lick. I use it a lot in really fast songs too or use it as a transition to go from pedals up to pedals down on a chord too.
