I own the TreeStyx and have hunted with them multiple times. I believe they are the best sticks on the market and certainly the most innovative with the built in aiders and attachment method. They are rock solid on a tree. I would highly recommend.

Don't ever use the 80 grit belt!! It destroyed one of my favorite knives in under ten seconds! Get replacement belts off of Amazon. They come in six different grits from 120 to 1500. I still haven't used the 120 (after my experience with the 80 I'm still reluctant) so I always start with 240 I work my way up. It's not a perfect sharpener but for basic, standard, cheap kitchen knives it's fast and works decently.

Back then my dad and I wanted to attract deer at our cabin to my tree stand here in PA Bradford county. Many years ago now we bought Walmart apple scented corn and some kind of deer molasses. Had a stump at 25 yards from my tree and we poured the molasses over the stomp and around it. Stump was maybe 20” wide by 24” tall. .Then we poured deer cane on it. Put out deer corn around it as well. We left it go went out towards our cabin and sprinkled the corn all in the field roughly 150 yards from our cabin. We walked back to the cabin took 3 minutes turned around and deer were feeding on the corn already! A two weeks later the stump was almost gone and the dirt was dug up and had a hole! Crazy stuff it was summertime like now and the kept eating the dirt around that stump that became a hole. Crazy

I have a lot of headlamps. The ones that are currently available that I use the most are: (1) the Olight Perun 2 Mini, a lot of pros to this light, has a bright 40 lumen red mode similar to the Fenix you showed. Some artifacts in the red beam, but I'm just glad to have it. About the only con, I wish they had also included a lower red mode, in addition to the bright red and bright red strobe. Any way this is a great EDC right angle flashlight or headlamp, small and comfortable. If you get it on sale, then it would be in your price range. [It will also charge in the Olight Baton 4 charging case so you have light for a long time and the charging case can also be used to charge your phone.] (2) The Fenix H65 -T, there is a newer model. No red though, at least not in my model. The magnesium body shaves off enough weight to make this 18650 headlamp comfortable. (3) The $16 Tri-Headbeam Maratac - Collab. For the price and that it runs on 2 x AA batteries it is a good little headlamp. Red and blue (3 lumens) are operated my the shorter of the two buttons. Compare it to its sibling the Wuben H3. Carry some spare batteries. I immediately removed the alkaleaks that Wuben supplied them with to CountyComm and changed them to some hybrid rechargeable batteries, eneloop or the Ikea LADDA equivalent. The red is fine for close-up but I would not plan on going navigating by it. The latch closing the battery compartment might be a weak point. Thanks for the comparison video.

@TheBudgetSportsman
@TheBudgetSportsman 11 күн бұрын
Because it’s a semi-free standing tent it’s difficult to set up on hard surfaces like concrete. It relies on the stakes into the ground to be able to stand. The only thing I could think if is tying the corners to some sort of heavy weight like a large rock.

I honestly don’t know. We paid around $2500 for the trailer. It was one year old when we got it. About $500 for the jackery battery and solar Panel. I think the beds cost around $400. The countertop was cheap from an old office space desk. Obviously lots of Misc expenses but I would be pretty sure it’s well under $5,000

@TheBudgetSportsman 13 күн бұрын
I won’t argue that $625 for climbing sticks is a little crazy, but it’s also tough to compare them to X2 sticks. They just aren’t in the same league. If people out there have the money these are (to my knowledge) the lightest sticks on the market and are ready to hunt out of the box.

I just got my tree styx in the mail this past week. They shipped incredibly quick. I had been keenly eyeing the one sticks all last season but I'm so glad i waited. the tree styx are the exact stick i had been trying to turn my beast sticks into for 3 years. I'm super excited to see how they pack and use this season. I will say it's quite difficult to get the tree styx back together quietly and consistently. I'm going to be experimenting with stealth stripping to see if I could quiet them down.
@TheBudgetSportsman
@TheBudgetSportsman 14 күн бұрын
Another commenter mentioned putting a bit of stealth strip between the stand-off to prevent noise when stacked. It might help with stacking noise. I’ve also found that how I wrap up the attachment method contributes to how easy/difficult it is to slide them together. The way o showed in the video is not exactly the same as the way tree Styx shows. I think their way helps with easier stacking.
@budekai
@budekai 14 күн бұрын
@@TheBudgetSportsman i had noticed that when you wrapped them but I haven't found it to make a meaningful difference. I did place a square between where the button hits the back of the other stick and it's helped but there's possible contact at the top and bottom of the steps themselves. I'll be messing around with some more stealth strips. not worried about the extra ounces on a stick so light.

I bought a set of Tree Styx at the Southern Mobile hunter expo in Dalton. I absolutely love them. I used Tethrd One sticks for 2 years, and I was never satisfied with the room on the stand offs. The Tree Styx solved this issue and in a lighter package. The weight might not seem like a big deal to some folks, but I have back issues and I save ounces everywhere I can. I will probably use a removable 2 step aider on the bottom stick to be able to get to my normal hunting height.

Great comparison but I would also mention that carbon doesn’t transfer the cold as well as any metal. So at the end of the season putting them up or taking them done your hands won’t freeze as they would with any metal stick.
