I grew up thinking white people ran the NAACP without knowing the president of the organization was black. Thank you! The color of skin doesn’t matter.😅 ❤

In his 1949 State of the Union address to Congress on January 5, 1949, Truman stated that "Every segment of our population, and every individual, has a right to expect from his government a fair deal." The proposed measures included: federal aid to education, a large tax cut for low-income earners the abolition of poll taxes an anti-lynching law a permanent Fair Employment Practices Commission (EEOC) a farm aid program increased public housing an immigration bill new TVA-style public works projects the establishment of a new Department of Welfare (Dept O HHS) the repeal of the Taft-Hartley Act, regulating the activities of labor unions an increase in the minimum wage from 40 to 75 cents an hour national health insurance expanded Social Security coverage, and a $4 billion tax increase to reduce the national debt and finance these programs.

Nobody cared what he said. The American public was sick and tired of the war and wanted the soldiers home. Go back and read newspapers of the time and listen to the radio news reports. There is no way the military command and enlisted men would have bought into trying to drive the commie army out of Europe - it is doubtful they could have done it anyway as the commies had far more resources in Eastern Europe than the US and the British. There were soldiers that let it be known that they would refuse to go to the Pacific to fight the Japanese because they had done their job of defeating Germany. I recall reading of the fear of the military command that soldiers would mutiny on ships taking them to the Pacific. Does anybody really believe those soldiers would have accepted starting a new war against anybody?

Inquisitive nature propensity to discover new themes led me to join the museum of modern art as a member and later the metropolitan museum where the William Blake lithographs black white illustrations attention to detail and his poem Auguries of Innocence left lasting impression. The Fabrege Egg exhibit came to the metropolitan and I also saw.

@@DevoutSkeptic The Zionist state of Israel is a British colonial project. It’s Capitalism on steroids, and doesn’t help Americans at all. Since October 7 it has turned the world against Israel and the US and has converted many to Islam. War is good for shareholders and the America’s many weapons factories but it has made the world more unsafe for Americans as a whole. So “based” isn’t the word I would use.

Born in 1964 and have to admit I knew very little about Harry Truman before watching this video other than that he dropped the bomb on Japan. I have a bit of an excuse in that I'm Canadian so Truman was not "our" guy. Enjoyed his video very much, Harry Truman did some great work with his committee shaming the blood suckers into getting onboard with the war effort. BTW the report on the fracture of SS Schenectady is only partly correct, as a mechanical engineer of 30 years experience when I retired I assure you that the low quality of the steel plate was a significant factor in those brittle fractures experienced in the war, and there were hundreds of fractures in Liberty ships, T2 tankers like this one, and others, I have been reading about ship construction in the war and that is what lead me to this video. Great job.

The pic from 11.30 to around 16 mins is taken outside Chateau Montigny and i dont think it was after the fighting as suggested in this vid although i could be wrong , i live in Montigny and i do know that this area was the base for the US school of artillery at the time, the chateau was used as the officers mess, other ranks were billeted in houses within the village, when i purchased my house 20 years ago i came across a postcard from an American soldier to a M Jacob, the owner of my house at the time sent from Marseille as he was awaiting transport back to the states to thank him for all he did for him during this time , ive enclosed below a little info from the Chateau website In 1918 the whole Chatillon region, and especially the Chateau de Montigny sur Aube, were welcoming with a unified spirit, all the future battalions of young Americans, often having volunteered without hesitation, but also without knowledge of the build-up of armaments on the hills surrounding the Chateau de Montigny sur Aube, and the sound of the French 75 canon, not far from the headquarters of The American expeditionary force at Chaumont (Haute-Marne) under the command of General John Pershing. Harry Truman, then 34 years old, was part of the arrivals. Arriving as a junior officer, he left as a Captain, having successfully completed a high-level training course. This period of his life gave him a knowledge of the world and of Europe that was witnessed by all his letters home and his biographer David McCullough, and which instilled in him the spirit of a leader which graced his march to power as President of the United States from 1945-1953.

Much appreciation to the TPL for sharing this interview with A.J. Baime. This (latest) book about the iconic NAACP leader, Walter White is a compendium featuring (a lot of) information already published by the many books and documents written about Walter White found in research centers and at the LOC ( and see the (1948 originally published) Autobiography on the Georgia Press Website/Amazon etc.) Mr. Baime's - is a wonderful prolific, prized author whose book is an interesting read for anyone continuing their education (or the uneducated) around the (on going) African American fight for Civil Rights (see AA profiling/health and wage gaps) in the US (which BTW was already in progress/gaining traction/and making in roads by people like Walter White for African Americans (and lets not forget - the other POC - and 20th century immigrants who were phenotypically under cover - and happy to follow with the guise of White Supremacy who benefited from "The Strange Fruit" which helped make the Southeastern US, so verdant). The Civil Rights Movement did not start with the revered and oft cited MLK:). The timely BLM debut of this book/commentary by Mr. Baime, should be gifted (along with the other books about Walter White already published) to Governor DeSantis and other AA History deniers, Mr. Baime included many grounding images to learn about the iconic Mr. White in "White Lies" so it should be and easy read for Governor DeSantis - and people around the country who think as he does, to comprehend the book. BTW for the Black Middle Class, Law Enforcement, Legal Historians, Academicians and Social-Justice-Aware-Black communities, Walter White is well known, and how leading his "double life" - a life which many phenotypic African Americans also lead while "wearing the mask" was not only tiresome and (a cumulative) ongoing threat to their mental and physical health - but in many cases, saved their lives. Curiously, Mr. Baime's book (the author presenting as caucasian) does not offer a section - a learning place of reflection, where American Whites can put themselves in Walter White's shoes? Begging the question: "What about me, my colleagues, my spouse and my friends, neighbors - the celebs I foolishly follow - are WE passing too (gasp)?" would give a thinking person pause. Walter White's appearance is not new or ground breaking that he "blended in" there were/are a plethora of folks who look like him who are breaking the "whites only" rule written and unwritten (see the leadership at Jockey Club and with the demise of the "Black Jockey"/The Executives at the NFL/ Televangelists, the leadership at esteemed Publishing Houses, etc.) hoodwinking Whites who think their employees, drinking buddies, - or their lovers, "could never be Black", I get a kick out of this (seemingly widespread delusion - all the time), and so should, you:)! For those who stand by and perpetuate the myth of the "one drop rule" (please include card carrying caucasians with Colonial roots who "mixed well with the natives") will aid in your understanding of how Walter White survived scrutiny and his impact on (the often redacted) telling of American History. Black people "know, each other" (and the other folks who "know Black folks") for example, chuckled at the casting of two obvious (African descended from some immediate family member) talented and lovely - actresses in the lead roles for the 2021 feature "Passing". Anyone with eyes who has wandered beyond their stoop, can clearly see both of these women are lighter complected than beautiful Nupita Lyong'o, but would clearly be cast as "Black" in any other role and do not "present as white" as their equally talented, colleague making her Directorial Debut admits to having been privileged to do (See Rebecca Hall). @mdombroski lightly commented on this TPL interview, to "get Bryan Cranston to play him in the movie." No, now I truly appreciate Bryan Cranston's talent, intelligence, and body of work but - now, here is an idea!: How about, we make the whole hearted attempt to cast Walter White, NAACP leader in a feature - easy peasy! We'll send the Producer of this Ava Duvernay directed block buster, (along with the casting agent - don't want to cut any gigs) to either - Chicago, DC, Philly, NYC, Boston, St. Louis, and Atlanta to keep costs down. In one of these iconic "diverse" cities to scout a card carrying African American actor with (naturally) straight - or "Dead Sea/Mediterranean wavy" light brown-blonde hair and grey, blue or light green eyes and Founding Father Facial Features, (glasses and all) to play Walter White? There will be plenty of people to choose from - keep at least some part of his published story, (that the Black community will not benefit financially from) - "authentic":). I know what you're thinking - Wentworth Miller or Jesse Williams - nope they look like handsome light skinned Black men not Blacks who are trying to pass for White (WentworthM was featured in "The Human Stain" as passing but he looked like what he is, a real life Black man ( according to the one drop rule) with light skin and piercing eyes not like a White man). Enjoy reading Mr. Baime's book and the others about Walter White, ask about your roots (smile), reflect, look at anyone with a raised eyebrow who you think looks like Mr. White and wonder (quietly to yourself): "Hmm is this "White guy" (really) Black?" and remember, Walter White: what he stood up for, never bowed down to and was committed to ensuring African Americans who were fortunate to escape the mental and physical bondage of living while Black, were able to tell/share the shameful true experience of living under Jim Crow America. - LOL
