@vfr_az28 күн бұрын
Thank you! Support 12 is cross-staffed by both engine and ladder 12. During this video, ladder crew had the support while engine 12 was responding in the engine. Support trucks hold the technical rescue equipment needed for rescue calls such as mountain rescues, water rescues, etc. Hope this helps!

It’s when there regular truck breaks down an they get a reserve truck in till there regular truck gets fixed
@paulsanford7730Ай бұрын
Nice catches! What is a reserve firetruck?
@vfr_azАй бұрын
A reserve truck is a truck being used in place of the frontline rig. Engine 935's frontline is a Pierce Quantum, but during this time it was in for maintenance, so they were in the reserve American LaFrance Eagle.
@MaizefireАй бұрын
When a apparatus is having issues the department gives them a backup rig until their Frontline is back in service that is what a reserve is

No Hazmat?
@vfr_azАй бұрын
The heavy rescue trucks (known as squad trucks during the filming of this video) on scene are hazmat equipped. I don't believe any hazmat operations were involved in this fire.

So are the engines numbered in the 900s reserve? Or are they staffed?
@vfr_azАй бұрын
The 900 engines are staffed, and they do have front line rigs. The way you can tell if a unit is reserve or not is if they have a white removeable number plate on each side, rather than the golden number decal.
@jefforr439Ай бұрын
@@vfr_az So as an example. Engine 20 and engine 920 are both staffed then? Or is one the reserve for the other?
@vfr_azАй бұрын
@@jefforr439 Yep, they would both be staffed. I do believe when it comes to Phoenix's rescues, 900 rescues are overtime rigs so they aren't always staffed. However, with engines, as far as I know, the 900 engines are fully staffed.
@jefforr439Ай бұрын
@@vfr_az thanks. I don't know anything about depts out there. Do you know what the staffing is? 4 or 5 ppl per rig?
@vfr_azАй бұрын
@@jefforr439 No problem! Engines are 4 person crews.

What he means when he says reserve is that they are not in thier Frontline truck. They are using a backup since thier Frontline truck was getting work done on it.
@ronaldlynnjohnson7589Ай бұрын
If if it is E930 then it is not a reserve engine. It is an Adaptive Response unit in a program that was initiated years ago. All Adaptive Response units are fullly manned and are used to fill in other stations when there units are going to training, move ups etc. Any apparatus in Phoenix that has a 9--- number is an adaptive response piece of equipment. Of course they respond in their first dues just like any other unit.

Whats a Ladder-Tender?
@vfr_az3 ай бұрын
A ladder tender is a smaller truck that is staffed by the ladder crew. They use it in events where they don't need the big ladder, such as medical calls. Hope this helps!

Looking to purchase an ALF Eagle. What happened to the old rigs?
@vfr_az11 ай бұрын
As far as I know, most of them become reserve units for the department, so they can fill in for new trucks that are down for maintenance. I know both Phoenix and other departments auction off some of their old trucks, but I don't know where they do it.
