Idk why people make such a big deal about hypersonic missiles. Also how people are acting like they're a brand new weapon. The only thing new about them is the ability to change direction in flight. I mean I'm not sure it people have heard about intercontinental ballistic missiles before, but they reach speeds of about 17,000 miles an hour. They're so fast they break earth's gravity and goes like 100 miles above earth before it reenters earth's atmosphere. We've proven we can shoot those down. It has about a 50% success rate and that's with an older defensive missile system. So no country can act like they have a missile that can't be shot down. Hell America demonstrated they can shoot down satellites with air to air missiles from an f-15. I almost wish a non 3rd world country would fuck with us so we can see what our military is really made of. We havent used it's full force in 80yrs and have followed strict rules to avoid collateral damage. No country will be that way to us and will try and destroy entire cities and not care if they're killing civilians. If that happens and our rules change to wipe the country out there's so many ways we could do it.

I think the Tomcat was actually slightly subsonic. 600 knots isn't supersonic at sea level, and there's no sonic boom in the video. That might actually be why they made it, the pilots never had to eject through a shockwave. Shockwaves are pretty brutal. A lot of people mention the vapour clouds, but they can actually happen at subsonic speeds depending on things like humidity levels.
