Lyrics: Verse 1- Somehow I knew As I watched you Walk through the door I couldn't lie Or try to hide The pain anymore Pre-Chorus You saw right through me When you asked me to dance I'd like nothing more, But I can't give you that chance Chorus - Don't come any closer Cuz I'm not that strong I'll ask you right over Though I know it's wrong He says I'm his only Then why am I so lonely Still I wear his ring, so I'll ask you one thing, Don't come any closer Verse 3- The look on your face As that melody plays Is breaking my heart Your soft tender voice Filing a void You didn't start PC I wish there could be, a way out for me That wouldn't cause any harm But I know right where I'd end up If you take me in your arms Chorus tag- My head on your shoulder Wish I could start over But I still wear this ring, so I'll ask you one thing, Don't come any closer

AS much as the subject tears at your heart if it is remotely possible to find relief ,your lyric brings a better naritive to the story, there is always the hope that the madness and sadness will end and be replaced with the joy that should be present in all mankind.

Sweet, sad and beautiful, Anna. I've had my occasions for writing songs for loved ones I have lost. It's painful. But there's something beautiful in the love and joy that inspired the sadness of their loss, and something beautiful in expressing that love and loss to the universe. Anyone who has experienced it (and who has not?) can appreciate this song. I know I do.

Anna, I've been on the hurting side of pain a few times, and it don't feel none too good. I wrote this ditty back in November of 1994, and it's a true story. It was Thanksgiving Day when you walked away, and I've been thankful from then on. 'Cause your memory keeps reminding me, that I should be thankful that you're gone ! Now everyday is Thanksgiving Day baby since you walked away, and I don't need no turkey - and dressing to celebrate. Yeah, and I don't need no pumpkin pie, no season for my reason why, 'Cause baby everyday is Thanksgiving Day since you walked away. Yeah and all I need is your memory, to keep reminding me, that my life is a better place since you walked away. Well it just might be Christmas time, New Years or even Valentines, but baby everyday is Thanksgiving Day since you walked away. Yeah everyday is Thanksgiving Day- baby - since you walked away ! Anna, you have got the gift and you write from the heart, and that's a huge place for one to be. Here's a song idea that I've never gotten around to writing and I'm too old now. Maybe you or someone else might give it a try. NO Booze Is Good News, When I Hear From You.

A great original and one of the best vocals that I've ever heard. There are many ways to say I need you, and some without even saying it. Better than 20 years ago, I challenged myself to write from a woman's point of view, and that's not an easy thing for a man to do, and this is what happened. Girls, I think I hurt my man last night. I know I sure hurt me. And it was all because I couldn't see, his love was staring me in my feet. You see, I work hard outside our home, and believe me so does he. When he gets in it's so really late, that by then most men have gone to sleep. But he picks me up and lays me down and begins to adore my feet. He caresses them, gives life to them, oh what sweet ecstasy. That I was lost in bliss and as he kissed, I asked " Baby, have you got a thing for my feet ? " He looked up in surprise and with a frown in his eyes, this is what he said to me. " I love you more than anything and no, don't have a thing for your feet. I simply treat them right every night, so they will keep bringing you - back to me. "

Your original deserves such a great response. Nothing says it better than a few chords and the truth. Here's my testimony. When I was a baby, I used to cry a lot. My mama tried a thousand things, but only one would make me stop. She would wrap me in her arms and slowly begin to rock. OH, I don't know what was in that bottle, but it really hit the spot ! And I've been hooked on the bottle, since the day that I was born. I had my very first drink, in my dear Mother's arms. And if drinking is what's killing me, then I'll soon buy the farm. 'Cause I've been hooked on the bottle, since the day that I was born ! A lot of John Prines' humor rubbed off onto me.
