Nice video Radu! I have been looking at getting a President McKinley - how do you find yours? Also, i am a little unconvinced by SSB - i tend to use FM/AM and have had quite a few dx contacts. I notice from your videos you have done very well on FM and AM too - is SSB worth it? I have owned an SSB (6900) before but only managed a few contacts on SSB - i do get quite bad QRM in my area though which makes SSB freeband hard work. Intertested to know from your experience many thanks. 26DR302 👍

Hello, I see you are from UK so probably is very easy to go online and order a McKinley. The only advantage of the Mkinley is that it is a small SSB radio, other than this it is getting very hot during regular conversations and in SSB drifts from the frequency. Also in my car this was the only radio that did pick up the winning noise from the alternator, all the other radios were fine. As a conclusion I can only recommend this radio if you have tight space in a car were you want to make the installation. If you are not space restricted go for other options as Anytone AT-5555N II or CRT SS9900. Even if you are mostly operating in FM-AM, SSB is nice to have for DX contacts.

Probably 29.600 is the correct frequency, very popular for long DX contacts and busy when propagation Allows !!

Salut. Am și eu o întrebare dacă ma poți ajuta.. Am un Avanti Delta și merg pe putere de 8 W,împreună cu un amplificator de 35w ajung undeva la 22 W . Dacă folosesc zilnic statia împreună cu amplificatorul,pot defecta ceva in timp cât mai scurt? Se rentează pentru 5 W sa port și amplificatorul?

Daca ai antena reglata nu poti strica nimic, amplificatoru e cam mic dar te descurci cu ce ai pana iei unu mai mare.

This radio seems to have excellent tx and rx. Tx quality amazing for the price. How do you find it compared to CRT Alpha? I like your videos and dx in FM and AM - for me more interesting than SSB.

CRT Alpha is better than this one. In my opinion, FM modulation is stronger on the CRT and unfortunately, on this PNI I did not find a way to increase by service menu or internal potentiometer. But for the price is ok and you get a color display.

Thank you for your reply and your opinion. I really like the CRT Alpha - great little radios. The PNI HP8900 also performs well but I think high power mode is limited to the EU band only? I like to use UK and 26.805. Hope to catch you on the air one day when we have good conditions 👍

That is a very impressive trip on 4 watts. I am a FM/AM only guy and love videos like this. I am personally not into SSB - i have tried it but prefer these modes. Hopefully will catch you on FM/AM in the future! Best wishes 26CT4488 UK

Salut, nu is multumit deloc da doar asta intra in cotiera si avea si SSB. In afara de faptu ca are un zgomot cred ca de la alternator e ok. Dar bazaitu asta e enervant mai cu seama la drum lung si alte statii nu au acest zgomot. De scos cred ca scoate vreo 30w dar eu folosesc mai putin ca am amplificator. Mai bine ia un 9900 sau 7800 de la CRT
