Bad design great view. Guessing it was slow for the view but they really should habe raised the station more so you wouldnt have that huge lift at the end.

Since that day, i've been going on every upside down ride i can think of, can't get enough of going upside down! I agree with the Red Devil / Cliffhanger needing more to it than just the one loop. It'd be nice if they were to put a custom corkscrew loop or two in it near the end or mid-way as it goes on the side of the mountain there. Back in the day, that one loop was a big hit, but now?, it's like a kid's coaster compared to the other massive coasters of now days...

Yeah, long time going fans that have been to Ghost Town in the Sky know what this coaster's real name once was, the Red Devil! Although, the name Cliffhanger fits it perfect too, as it's on the side of a mountain. I myself have never ridden it. Back in the day when it was Red Devil, i wouldn't dare go on anything upside down, but now?, Oh Yes! LOVE upside down rides now. I conquered my fear of upside down rides when i was 17 on a ride called the Hawk, that was once at Pigeon-Forge.

Hi Gabriela. Yes, I realized though the upload date is fairly recent, the video is quite old. The scene of Ellee dancing is a dead give-away! :-) If you'd like to see some stills shot around the Valley and WTT just Seach KZfaq, "Cambridge Slideshows: Return to Maggie Valley" Thanks, Scott.

This video is actually quite old and I believe it was made when WTT was closed and planning to relocate, but I am not sure. We definitely don't want to forget WTT, we love WTT and are very proud to have it in Maggie Valley. Please see newer video for Maggie Valley I will add to the description of this video.

@anndavis86 Oh, get over it. Those bears are taken better care of than those out in the wild. It would NOT matter if someone gave everybody a solid 10 pound gold bar and the price of gold was $50,000 a half ounce, someone would find something about it to complain about. !@#$%^&*

Looks like an interesting coaster. They also made good use of the momentum as they only had to install a single pinch brake to slow it just a little bit for the lift hill. Anyone know who originally built it. I want to say its either an Arrow Dynamics or a TOGO creation.

@lumyrainstar Believe it or not, I just recently read where due to the economy, the Judge has lifted the bankrupcy ruling that will allow the attraction to be sold at an auction. Rumor is that the owner of a senic railroad may be interested. I hope so. If nothing else, As far as I am concerned they could close down and remove all of the rides up top and just have the chair lift and the town. That would reduce to cost of operation and people would not mind paying a much smaller price just

I'm sorry but a coaster with a lift hill that leads to the station makes for a very anticlimactic finish. Just like Adventure Express at Kings Island.

I rode this coaster back in 1989 when it was called the Red Devil. I loved the ride because you could just stay on the coaster and ride it over and over if nobody else was waiting to ride. I rode it six times in a row before moving on. Not a spectacular coaster but it was the best that Ghost Town had to offer. I actually liked the parks uniqueness a lot.

After being closed for a few years it reopened for the 2007 season and sadly, that was the last time it would be open. An attempt was made to revitalize it after pumping nearly 200 million dollars into it, the attraction had to file bankrupcy. Sadly, the love affair with the old westerns has somehow faded away with the majority of the public, there were simply not enought visitors to support it.

Rode by there on the way home earlier today and it appears to have been shut down and no upkeep. It seems a year or two has passed since in operation. Sad really, I remember my parents taking me there when I was a kid in the late 70's early 80's.

I grew up going here on vacation for many years. They added more rides in the 1980's and later then the family sold it as they were getting really old.It didn't open for 5 years and the new owners trying to fix things etc.Heard you have to be driven up the top as the ski lift and train no longer run.:(
