We have a problem that project away in the transformation editor isn't working. It works in the editor window and that means the query is correct. But it still ingests all the data as we see it in the logs.

Hello, that's interesting. How long did you wait? Sometimes there are big delays with transformation in hours. It's also possible you have multiple workspace transformation rules on different tables. Didn't test it for a while, maybe Microsoft fixed it, but you couldn't have multiple workspace transformation rules. You would have to combine all your rules into one, even for multiple build in tables such as SignInLogs NonInteractive...etc.

There are many ways to gain knowledge and skills. I respect different opinions. Personally I have done CCNA over network +, but that's because I was working with cisco routers and switches. As cyber security analyst, you don't need to learn how to configure OSPF.

how long do you need to be in this field to work fully remote from home?
@Cyber-Check

I wouldn't say it's necessary based on time you work in the field. It's just less positions are opened to work fully remotely. With more experience, you have more options. Therefore more position for remote work are available to you. For example, just recently we have hired new SOC analyst without any prior working experience in security. He will be working mostly from home (Once a month visit to office).

@Cyber-Check
@Cyber-Check Ай бұрын
Thank you @tarrycapybara90 I don't think CCNA is necessary if you have Network+. You need networking basics and Network + is more than sufficient. With regards to Azure certifications. AZ-104 before attempting AZ-500, especially if you are new to Azure. Don't worry though. There is overlap. AZ-104 goes into security as well and you will use this knowledge in AZ-500 as well.

Hello Tonny, first of all congratulations on finishing masters in Information Security! That's awesome! I have personally finished my master's degree while working as well and it's not easy task. I completely understand your dilemma. Honestly I would leverage your current role and jumped into senior position in cloud security. I think your best shot, given your knowledge and expertise is DevSecOps. Single certification is plenty and rather focus on hands on projects. There are plenty of opportunities when it comes to DevSecOps. First though, look into the job descriptions for such role, if it's something that would be interesting to you. This role has different seniority with DevSecOps principal architects earning up to 300 000$ a Year.

I agree that CCNA and F5 certifications indeed offer more specialized knowledge and open doors to higher-level positions, but foundational certifications like A+ can still be valuable. It's much harder to prepare for CCNA compare to Network +. Personally CCNA was my first certification, but it's not very beginner friendly, if you are just starting with certs. There cons and pros. Depends how you look at it.

Az-900 or SC-900 for someone who wants to go into security isn’t AZ-900 just general azure?
@Cyber-Check
@Cyber-Check 2 ай бұрын
For someone aiming to enter the field of security, the SC-900 certification is more relevant as it focuses specifically on security, compliance, and identity fundamentals in Microsoft environments. This said, you need to understand the general cloud concepts regardless of your role in Cloud. You need to be familiar with the technologies and services that underpin cloud platforms, as this foundational knowledge is crucial for implementing and managing security effectively.

Hello and sorry for the delay. First of all don't worry about comptia Security plus too much. Important is that you have the knowledge for the interview. You could also mention it, that you are studying comptia security plus certification. I didn't have the certification either, when I've started in cyber. With regards to AWS. It's still the most popular cloud provider. This said, if you have never worked in IT, it will be very difficult to get into cloud security. It's not exactly entry level job position. Still it's not impossible. You just want to stack as many "cards" on your side. If you don't have previous IT skills, definitely spend a lot of time connecting with professionals on LinkedIn and do a lot of projects related to cloud security. Your best shot is through referral

@Cyber-Check
@Cyber-Check 4 ай бұрын
It will depend, if you have any prior knowledge, for example from other certifications. I would say between 1 - 2 months, if you dedicate 2 hours a day. In that time you could do everything mentioned. The recommended way would be. Do Microsoft Learn > make notes > put your skill at test with hands one labs and KQL labs > make notes > do practice tests > find out your weak spots > improve by going back to your notes and expanding on them. Many Microsoft Learn materials have link to documentations. Remember, you have access during the exam to this documentation. You will find additional information and it's very beneficial to spend some time reading it. It will come handy during exam as you will be more likely to find given information during exam.

What's different between CompTIA A+ and CCNA?
@Cyber-Check
@Cyber-Check 4 ай бұрын
CompTIA A+ certification focuses on foundational IT skills including hardware, software, networking and troubleshooting. It's suitable for entry-level IT professionals. CCNA certification, on the other hand, specifically emphasizes Cisco networking technologies, configurations and protocols, providing a deeper understanding of networking concepts. While CompTIA A+ covers a broad spectrum of IT fundamentals applicable across different vendors, CCNA specializes in Cisco networking products and solutions. Ultimately, CompTIA A+ serves as a general IT certification, whereas CCNA is tailored for individuals seeking expertise in Cisco networking technologies.

@andyedwards2589

I think the problem with this comparison is they aren’t apples to apples. The first CompTIA cert you get is always going to be the hardest and take more time until you learn the study program you need to ace their exams quickly. Same goes for MS Azure certs. And if you wait until the end to start actually learning code and how to build stuff in the cloud, that will be an entirely different learning curve as well as it’s completely unlike studying for exams. Still, I 100% agree you should put as much time as you can into studying and practicing these things at the expense of everything else, including having an actual IT job. That will slow you down immensely and narrow your focus needlessly when you could b learning rapidly absorbing all kinds of new stuff like this. I’d say more realistically a year and a half assuming you can avoid having to get a full time professional job to support yourself in the meantime. You will have plenty of time to worry about how to meet deadlines, manage stress, and keep everyone else happy for the rest of your career. Get the foundation right will you still have the freedom to do so.
