The tweezer method saved me thank you thank you thank you thank you so so so so so much. I went MONTHS hesitant of buying a plunger to fix my keyboard. I tried cutting my cables for the copper to suck away but never worked and left a whole lotta mess. With your method I just took the switch off effortlessly holy shit.

My Dell laptop has 3 USB-C ports, and all three are super unreliable. I'd rather USB-C be used just for device connections and not power. USB-C doesn't hold up over time.

I don’t hate when I buy one with a non detachable cable. I just don’t buy one unless it’s detachable. Problem solved!

Hi, dumb question, but why can't you use the same oven for this as eating? Is it the smell or something? Should I get a dedicated toaster oven for this?
@JoeGaz23 күн бұрын
Any oven is fine as long as it is not too close to the heating coil, otherwise the wrap will melt. experiment!

i bought a Rexus keyboard that came with non detachable cables. but then the Rexus team made a detachable version for their newer revision of my current keyboard. and since my cable is pretty much damaged, im going to change it to type c. its easier to replace the cable that way.

+ like 👍 I found your project interesting, but I will be honest and sincere. USB Type C on Laptop chargers is a nightmare, especially if you are a repair technician and your model needs repairs, besides, the way you designed it, allows for an exchange or repair. In many Lenovo laptops today, USB Type-C comes as standard from the factory, but it does not allow for replacement or repairs (it becomes a lot of work and they make it as difficult as possible in the hardware design), I call this a technology regression. Because USB ports over time and use, depending on how you use the connector, can loosen and deteriorate over time, even causing damage (the internal pins can break and cause a short) and render the port unusable, at least , if it is well designed and used correctly, I believe there will be no problems. To be honest, the project is cool, but it's not something I would do in any way, I prefer the standard traditional power connector, they are easy to repair, they are easier to repair, and they will rarely show the play that USB ports will. I don't want to belittle your project, nor seem rude, you did something according to your needs, that's great, but for me, it doesn't seem like something advantageous, it's definitely something that I would classify as an experiment. Edit: I'll be honest, USB Type C was the worst type of port designer ever designed, as a repair technician, it's a nightmare, besides many people look for adapters and sources, but depending on the situation, the sources may not be fully compatible and or the door could simply fail, break, close short... in short, a nightmare. I don't see the advantage of this type of port as a charging port.

Pretty good mod, I always approve converting things to USB-C. For those who don't want to open their laptop, there's always the converter. Just make sure to get a proper one from a reputable seller! You don't want to skimp out on USB-C peripherals unless you like setting things on fire.
