The guys that can take a car, gut it, and fabricate all that tubing, that looms like a complete mess, and when they are done, it is as much a masterpiece as the Moaning Lisa. The hangers and bracketry for the four link adjustment is so trick looking. I'm a pretty excellent Mig/Tig welder, but I cannot fabricate to save my life. Simple brackets, yes but to to take a pile of tubing, measure, cut, bend and install all of that and it actually turns out is amazing to me. I would have loved to have seen the guys from Shelby build the GT40 or Cobra, the early NASCAR guys, and the 70s era NHRA Pro Stock guys build those Vintage racers.

Sounds awesome! I learned the hard way to always start a new engine with mufflers on it. Or, if you can't, invest a few bucks in one of those stethoscopes with a probe and go all around it. (Good idea anyway) I had an engine with a flat hydraulic lifter that I never heard because of it. The noise can mask other sounds, too. Also, either have an oil pressure gauge where you can see it, or better yet, you be with the engine running the throttle, making adjustments and watching for leaks, etc. While someone else is inside watching gauges and can be in control in case that sucker is in gear or needs shut off in a hurry. I protect all of mine with a simple oil pressure shut off switch set to 30 psi or so. You hold a bypass button to start it until it gets pressure. You can put in a temp operated idiot light also. Small price for insurance on your investment! Good to see you not standing in front of it. Torque Converters drain down and stall convertors can jump if you hit the throttle. I don't trust newly installed shift linkages or neutral start switches. Learned that the hard way too! A good race trans can move the car in neutral from friction, and with 4.10s you probably cant hold it back by pushing on it. If the transmission is rebuilt or reprogrammed you need it in neutral to fill and oil the torqueflite but have no idea wat it will do the first time it gets pressure! Cool car, it is one of my favorites. The best smell in the world is hot paint and burning fingerprints on a new engine!

Apologies, Thomas; I wish I had thought about it at the time, but I was more concerned about ensuring the pump was the failure. I will tell you that it is relatively simple without being sure what your application is. Drop the oil pan and pickup tube, then it's just the two bolts holding up the pump. It was more of a pain in the ass getting the oil pan gasket right. If I can help you, please let me know. Good luck.
