if you had 60 days from planting and 60 days after first grazing it should really do good.

I don’t know if you can get a small fertiliser/ seed spreader that you can trail behind your vehicle for broadcasting the seed. We bought one from Ireland. It came in a kit. We used it behind the ATV I used to broadcast clover by hand. Also a good tine harrowing might help pull up the thatch and rough the soil up a bit. Do you soil test? PH is everything when growing grass. Those cows certainly loved the sorghum, they are all looking good.’

Hell that was too easy. I've seen a little POA horse that was harder to trailer than that.

Only recommendation would be to find a neighbor kid to drive your truck around the field while you sit on the tailgate and broadcast 😁

Good to know that works. You just put a whole lot of biomass in that soil. Perhaps the good seeds in the seed bank will pop out next year. It's such a hassle and expense getting the no till drill for us, doing small parcels. We planted 15 acres of that last year and the cows inhaled it! Maybe I'll try broadcasting some, too. Thanks.

Interesting!!! I like the fact that you show the results. Alot of youtubers just show the planting but very seldom talk about the results. Thanks for sharing!!

Great video Isaac. Glad that your experiment worked out.

Did you come back and bushhog after broadcasting like you said in the video? Also did you fertilize or anything behind it? Looks like an excellent stand of grass with minimal input! Great video.

I would recommend doing the same with red river crabgrass. I've used it several years on where I feed hay and had excellent results.

Good to see you. The heard looks great. I dont know how you keep track of them and their histories. I guess that shows a good cattleman. I'm glad your experiment was a success. 😊

Have you ever done a burn on this low quality field rake in the ash and try restarting. Here in Colorado to keep the fields good some burn, they always have a great crop, they burned 2 months ago, and already cut there first hay and put it away.

Ur experiment worked well. Too bad u don't have a tub spreader for ur tractor to sow the seed. Save u some work

Congratulations on more successful farming/ranching strategies and practices! Enjoyed seeing the brown Swiss cow and calf once again.

I imagine the cows and the hoppers like the sorghum because it is sweet. You have ponds, maybe a few ducks to hold down the grasshoppers would help. Those cows are fat and the calves look great. Good video. Pax.

I've seen broadcasting before moving swine and it works. I've been wondering if broadcasting before grazing cattle would push the seed into the soil some and help germination. I'll tune in next year for sure.

I don't know who the middle man is, but they are getting rich! It sure isn't 60 cents per lb in Lowe's! Also, why is it Kentucky 31 rescue if it all comes from Missouri? Lol

I discovered your channel earlier this week, and I enjoy watching your many videos. I like the way you are with animals, some videos about saving newborn calves I watch again and again..also I just wanted to say that you can remove the needle once you have the stuff inside the syringe and just shoot the stuff in the animal's eyes. That way you will avoid unwanted accidents ( punctures and whatever)
