Why didn't he take the spray off of the casket before sealing the vault and place it on top of the grave after burial.

These men were not being disrespectful, they are simply doing what is necessary after the family and friends have left. It is simply a reality of life.

They're doing hard work, I understand. Hoping the family has left. Very undignified the way materials are just haphazardly tossed around. Not a good visual for the mourners

Graves often fill up with ground water after they're dug and it has to be pumped out first or the concrete vault will fill up with water before the casket is put in.

I never will understand this half casket lid stuff. Ever since I've been around, caskets have a full lid on them, none of this half a casket lid stuff.

Nicely done. He knew his job well. To me that didn’t look 6 feet deep. Maybe 4.5 feet deep?

There have instances of grave robbers who waited until the casket had been lowered into the ground and the dirt partially filled to return at night, pried open the casket, extracted the gold teeth, diamond ring, other precious stones, etc.

The Funeral Director will remove any ring, especially a diamond ring, before sealing the casket. Why would you bury a diamond ring or precious stone with the deceased?

How disrespectful that there were people chattering and laughing in the background. Shouldn't they have been asked to leave or move away from this last parting of a deceased person!

They are not disrespectful IT IS A GRAVEYARD and they were visiting their mothers grave with out of town family members… and I was videoing them covering this grave … no family members were there… it’s ok…… ppl talk at graves all the time… why go there if you not gonna talk even if it’s with yourself at the grave of the person you are visiting 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

What is everyone talking about? He didn’t do a bad job at all. He got it off pretty quickly and he didn’t even place the rim down that hard. The pry bar may have scratched the wheel when he was breaking the bottom bead but it happens. If they were expensive aftermarket wheels I could see a reason for a complaint

Would it be too much to expect those working on a loved one be a tad more professional looking? Baseball hat on backwards shirt untucked, clanking and chucking around equipment. You can clearly see they just want to get it over with and on to lunch or something else. I suppose most don’t stick around for just this reason - it isn’t pretty anyway you look at. They could be a little more professional though. A uniform? Something appropriate like a maintenance uniform and tucked in would look a little less slob just my opinion.

They are professional!! No one is normally around when they cover the graves I was asked to record the funeral and they loved it…. It’s no different that the folks already in the ground get their headstones moves and their grave gets disturbed until all the graves around them are filled… no different when the family stands around on other graves when they are under the tent waiting to be buried… and the dead don’t care care … DEATH is for the LIVING

What? The upper cover just sticked by tape and not screwed??? How the hell is it possible; would never ever be possible here in France…

so different to how its done here in Britain .. coffin - grave, earth straight on top then the coffin after time will collapse as its just wood ...

Interesting. So the sealant that bonds the top and lower levels of the vault is already in place on the upper edges. The worker removes the tape that is covering that edge, which is now directly exposed for contact with with the lower vault.

Most places in the Caribbean have a more simpler process. They have flooding all the time and have never heard of any caskets floating away. I would rather have my casket interred and covered in the ground while my family is still there and the service is going on. This process here just seems weird. Is this mandatory for all burials in the USA?
