You two did an amazing job getting where you got. Not many people can do that. Don't be sorry. Maybe one day you two can pick up where you left off. You don't have to do it all in one go.

As much as I have enjoyed your videos and wanted to see you finish the hike, I know how you feel. I did a partial hike also in 2010 to Harper's Ferry WV and decided I wanted to go home also because of missing home and family. Rode the commuter train into DC, shipped my gear home through UPS, got on a plane to Florida and that was it. It is an experience that you will never forget and you will be talking about it for years to come. Mama Bear you are a very good mother to have given your daughter this time and this experience with you. You may also find out that it has changed your life, and your priorities of what things in life are important. May Yahuah Bless you and your family. Mark

Mama Bear and Little Bear, so sorry y’all got off trail cuz I was rooting for you both … and y’all were kicking it. Sometimes it’s a harder decision to get off trail and take care of you and yours, as opposed to fall under pressure to push on. I support your choice. Speaking of getting off trail, I had to do it on Memorial Day when I had a heart attack a mile up from Lemon Gap and drove myself to the ER at Asheville once I got back to my car at the Hot Springs trailhead. I am the benefactor of many acts of Devine Providence and Miracles big and small that got me where I needed to be. And I am compelled to tell me story in real time on my hike channel to be a witness to God’s powers. Before this experience I was spritual and believed in Jesus, but now I am even more so, for the powers of prayer overwhelmed me. I’d be honored if you two would follow my story … presently editing the day of the attack, journey to ER, surgery and beyond. Happy Trails, Sugar Bear. KZfaq.com/@sugarbearspawtreks

Oh wow!! I’m so sorry to hear you had such a scare but so thankful you are ok. We will be praying for you and follow your story, too. I’m thankful for your increased closeness to God. 🙏🏼 And thank you for your kindness and support on our AT journey! We had such an amazing adventure and are so thankful to be home with our family. We have no regrets and chose to leave on a high note, feeling great, making good progress, and with full confidence we could’ve made it to Maine should we have chosen to. But, in the end, we chose family over another 3 months without them. We’ll never regret that choice. We’re currently on and filming another family adventure as we speak. We’re excited to share our family adventures now. 🙏🏼💙 God bless you. We’ll check out your channel and story soon. Love and light to you!

@@wildflowersadventures Mama Bear, thank you for your concern and well wishes, but the heart attack (weird as it may sound) was the best thing that could have happened to me … as well as being the best place. It uncovered the “widow maker” that was only a matter of time to take me home. Throughout the whole ordeal I was in a state of calm and later in the hospital, in a state of trust. I look forward to your upcoming family adventures. Do you and Little Bear plan to do any more of the AT in sections? That’s the only way I’m doing it … after my first section (Delaware Water Gap to Duncanon) I was hooked. I am so proud of the both of you for doing what y’all did. Little Bear is a force to be reckoned with. Know yall are glad to be home. Happy Trails, Sugar Bear.

It was a good run. Enjoyed the parts after I found the channel a few days ago. I do think you were wise to quit when you did. When things go stale you need a further reason to keep going than that that is what you'd planned. It's a rare thing to get to quit 'clean' like you did, without any wonder of if you could do it or if you should have stayed.

I understand why you stopped that does not mean I have to like it. I waited a few days to comment so my words will be kinder. I have lost my health and was enjoying the fact that you would take me to Katahdin. Maybe in 2025 I will pick the crew that will get there. You did a great job videoing. You showed me things I had never seen on the AT. I looked forward to watching your video every evening. The fact that you are Christians is great. I will leave you on my daily Prayer list. Little Bear you did a great job of leading the way on the trail. May God continue to bless you on your Journey through life. Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

Seems like homesick and boredom’ is the reason I here the most, which I’m sure I would fall in that category. My youngest son hiked the trail this year, he started in early February and he did finish, but when I would catch up with him here an there on the trail to hike, I could feel his heart sink every time I would go back home and he would have to watch my red truck drive away.

Congratulations to your son! I bet that was hard for both of you. How blessed are we to have such special families at home to miss so much! We definitely missed our family so much, which made everything else pale in comparison to being with them. We genuinely enjoyed our time and had an amazing adventure, but the further north we got, the more we realized nothing we were going to experience ahead of us was better than what we left behind. The trail will always be there, and when the timing is better, in a different season of life, we will likely be back. My husband still wants to thru hike when we retire, and I think that would be great for us. The kids will all be off doing their own things, too. Until then, we will probably section hike! Thanks for sharing. It’s comforting knowing others can truly relate. 😊💙🙏🏼

Congratulations Momma Bear and Little Bear on all you accomplished together on the AT! Hiking 1/3 of the trail is a great feat in itself. As a former summer camp backpack leader I was absolutely impressed with your risk assessment, logistics of resupplies, rest days, and all the other details that make for a successful adventure. My 93 year old father hiked all of CT, MA, and VT sections of the AT when he was in his late 50's. He greatly enjoyed watching your beautiful footage of the parts of the AT he never saw. Your photos, music and stories were magical so please accept our thanks for all the extra effort it takes each day to create these videos. We were both impressed with your honesty of why you wanted to hike the AT...it was your calling. God will make good on your willingness to answer your calling and trust that the connections you made, the experiences you shared, the people you blessed with your presence and who blessed you were all part of his plan. Looking foreward to what you have to offer the world on this channel!

I met the both of you very briefly as you sat beside the river right after Laurel Falls. I totally understand your feelings. I got off the trail twice - once after 39 days, then came back to trail after sitting home for 27 days, then returned home a second time after 3 weeks. At 58 years old I was homesick. For all the adventures of the AT, I too came to the conclusion that nothing on the trail could replace what I missed from home. Good for you both.

I don't know how the Blue Ridge Parkway is graded, but roads generally have steeper grades than trails, so trust me, you made the right choice over eight miles. It looks deceptively easier to road-walk, but there is a reason why most hikers do not prefer it -- and it isn't just that roads tend to be less scenic (BR Parkway is clearly more scenic than most). The uphills are apt to be more steep.
