Unfortunately it's embarrassingly a Victor portable turntable. I can never keep the old Victrolas running. But I guess the one saving grace is I'm not listening to a 78 for their sound quality.

@@Northrrexperience Yes, I know! My question is if the Chinese Casino is a good instrument, if it last for many years... I know that the Casino made in USA is great, that the Japonese is very good, the Korean... but, and the Chinese...?! Thanks again for your atention!!! :-)

Proud owner of a worn ebony Casino......the pickups really respond to picking dynamics...I love the guitar and can't put it down even though I have some much more expensive guitars.....what I recommend with the Casino is to put a Boss GE7 EQ pedal in the signal chain and you can make it much more articulate with a simple tweak of band widths....it's a wonderful guitar if you unlock it's secrets...

I personally would have included something by the Incredible String Band, Judy Collins's In My Life, and maybe Earth Opera. I'd be inclined to include something by Phil Ochs as well, but I'm not as big a fan of his Elektra albums as I am of his A&M period.

Great review, I am thinking of purchasing a Casino here in the UK but the new worn Casinos seem to be better specified regarding pickups and electrics (ie CTS pots etc) but are much cheaper than your model. I know the matt finish on the new models is less labour intensive but even so the price difference to me does not take all that into account.Makes me wonder if the tonewoods on your model is superior, it certainly sounds nice and round as I remember of old Casinos. I would welcome your build quality view. Cheers From Lockdown UK where we are all P****d of with this virus.

Thanks for your comment. I've not played one of those you mentioned so I can't compare the two but this does seem like the quality is pretty decent and similar to other higher end Epiphone guitars such as the Sheraton. I know this has a 5 ply maple body with basswood top bracing. The P90s are great (maybe slightly less articulate than I'd like) but overall a great sounding and playing guitar.

Great question! Other labels around that time didn't think the Stooges had the musical capabilities to play perfectly in minimum studio takes (thus costing a lot) or to also play in time and in tune etc. consistently. These other labels thought the band was a little too rough to pull off a slick recording but they ultimately missed the point of what the band was trying to do.

Hey ....... nice to see something on Elektra Records ......indeed a pioneer label of its time. Was surprised. To see Metallica..... I assume it was a subsidiary label under the Elektra label. Great to see the Stooges and Rhinoceros in the list. There is even a couple of Canadians in the band. They deserved a better reception than what they got from the public. Love is a personal fav. although l would go with Da Capo as my fav. But would-be hard to leave out 4ever changes as well. I would have picked the Doors as well....... Instant classic from the git go ..... back in '67 nobody sounded like the Doors...... dark, mysterious totally in a class of their own. I'd have a hard time w/ Paul Butterfield BB. The 1st has great energy going on and wonderful player's all....but I'd have to add East -West. Good presentation! Thanks.
@Northrrexperience3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! yes Metallica was originally on Megaforce records but Elektra picked them up in the mid 80's. Totally agree that De Capo and East West are hard not to pick out as well. Too many great albums! Thanks for taking the time to engage in the discussion.
