Is the antifreeze needed in a tropical climate? never gets close to freezing (0C/32F) here.
@ZookeeperJohnG3 күн бұрын
Yes absolutely! Antifreeze/coolant does three main things: Prevent freezing, control corrosion and increases (slightly) boiling point.

Thank you for documenting your Gen 2 inverter research. I just dismantled a 2nd gen and have everything. Do you think it would be possible to run the inverter using the factory HV cpu with the imobilizer and key, or should I skip all of that and just go with an openinverter board?
@ZookeeperJohnGАй бұрын
The only benefit to using the Toyota VCU is if the VCU and motor(s) are from the same vehicle as the resolver encoding is paired accordingly, which is why I ultimately chose the Openinverter route. Good luck with your project!

Wonder if you could work the big gear back and forward until free… since is like just debris…instead of replacing pump…looks like 4 screws to get gear cover off…
@ZookeeperJohnG3 ай бұрын
I found that the grit/debris had caused damage to the valve and body increasing friction. One might be able to disassemble it and smooth the parts out, but given the cost of the valve vs the work involved, seems better to just replace it making sure to use pre-mixed new coolant to avoid even more contamination.

if you spray silicone inside the pipes it will turn easy again. the motor should also be sprayed with electoral cleaner to get the carbon out and it will work again...

By disconnecting those 2 harnesses, is that sufficient to remove power from the brake caliper piston or does the negative battery cable need to be removed also?
@ZookeeperJohnG4 ай бұрын
You should remove the Negative connection to the 12v battery before doing any work, per Toyota. The positive is suggested, but optional.

You have mine beat by $25, but mine is way more secure. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oL99Y9uLnbrbkXU.html You have an update video? 13:15 BTW the whole reason you have to use a 15AMP fuse in YOUR system is because you are using different wire gauges, goin up and down in size. You need to be using a uniform gauge for this sort of stuff. For any wire that is for that actual motor you need to use wire that does not restrict the flow of current. it looks like you are going from 16 AWG to the motor, then feeding the relays (87 and 87a) with 18 Awg, then the fuse holder looks like a 20 AWg wires them back to the battery that is at least a 16 AWG.

If all the modules check out ok, I would suspect corrosion on the terminals, or the whole pack is just worn out.
