Any info on "Sambo, the Cat" who used to swim the channel to greet visiting tourists on the mainland?

I came upon this trestle maybe 20 years ago riding my ATV on the trail under it but i did not go across the trestle. If anyone had tried to walk across it, and a train came they might think they are in the movie Stand By Me. lol

Anyways was i ever shocked when i first saw it as i had no idea i was about to come upon it.

All this time passed and no one has responded?! Your channel is apparently lacking. Piscataqua.

Love this. Hired a Maine guide to follow my friend and I out there in kayaks from Birch Point. Fabulous, fabulous. Landed on the island and explored.

Aw, but this makes the duck sound like a snob!

Oh my word-the DOJ has attitude 😂 how y’all did that with a straight face is impressive. Thankfully the Duck is under glass, otherwise I’d recommend a seatbelt. (No wonder he needed refurbishing!)

SO glad I got a DOJ tee..though I spend most of my time in it explaining it...then getting seriously weird looks.I am impressed w/your abilities to keep straight faces while doing this!

I heard that you can't tell lies in front of the duck! 😁

Being a former law enforcement officer I can say "The Duck" is one of the greatest public relations program's I have ever seen. To get John Q Public to go out of their way, while on vacation, to go to willingly go to a police department, to visit a stuffed duck, is no small miracle. Long live the DOJ!

You folks only covered coastal places. There are wonderful places inland, like Fryeburg with the academy and annual fair.

I grew up in Camden... And in my heart, I am still a kid, climbing Mt. Battie with a peanut butter sandwich wrapped in wax paper in my pocket. I always stop for a drink from a small spring, bubbling fresh clean water. Many years later I came in first in a survival exercise at Bucky Fuller's World Game in California because I knew I could safely drink from it as this part of New England had no life-threatening strain of bacteria. The summer I was 10 I showed up at the wharf at 4:30 AM every morning as the Lobster men were gathered around a radio listening to the weather report from Nova Scotia to Block island. It was 2 weeks before Albert and Cole invited me on board. Lobster-men took their sons, not the daughter of a CPA. Two summers of 6 weeks of good memories of a thick white mug of hot chocolate and stories of the biggest lobsters that got away. My sneaker on a wet deck holding down a claw while I pegged the other ended in my screech as the biggest catch of the summer went over the side. They forgave me with their laughter and a band-aid. I still have the scar!

Dont bother with anything south of Richmond unless you like out of stater's. True mainer's are in coastal fishing towns and deep into the woods and work hard for a living..
