Part of the problem is that ships wait at all. That just encourages chronically late passengers to keep dawdling on their way back to the ship. Unless ships are waiting for the return of ship-sponsored excursion passengers, I think ships should blow the horn on time and leave. The well behaved passengers who returned before the announced departure time shouldn’t be punished by having to wait for the slackers.

The idea of being stuck on a floating mall/casino/disco club with thousands of people! Oh hell no! I'll take the secluded mountain cabin everytime!

When the whole cruise experience relies on getting back on time.. Always set the clock 1hour prior to what you normaly think is enough time.. You belive it will take you 30mins? Means 1hour 30mins. Twice ive hit traffick or delays in train and buss schedules and made it back just in time.
