The voice of Kishore Kumar carried the entire emotion, feelings & the essence of the song - it was God Gifted & Sir RD Burman knew this fact - he also knew that Kishore Kumar was not a trained singer - but his output in front of the microphone was terrific & the appeal was such like that it could mesmerise millions - which was a thousand times better than any other so called trained singer. The very light "murkies" and the voice swing & modulation that he did in the entire song is simply par excellence - portraying Sanjeev Kumar on screen - myself being a professional singer know very well that none of the singers of that Era and that of now have that characmatic voice and ability to strike notes of "major and minor" & sometimes the E7th chord to pin point notes in any song that took the songs to next level - in terms of voice quality - throwing of lyrics - emotings the emotions in front of the microphone - Kishore Kumar or Md Rafi Sahab still holds the crown of the best performance and proper justice to any song sung by them- none is near to them even in a thousand miles. A fact is a fact - no place to deny.

Hariharan sang better than Kishore Kumar here. Kishore Kumar had gifted voice but was not a trained singer and struggled with quick alteration of notes, ie, "harkats". In this particular stanza, for example, Kishore Kumar's harkat at "raat KO" is not good. Also at the end of the antara, "baqi to nahi", Kishore Kumar missed the ending harkat which connects antara to mukhda, which Hariharan did very well here and Lata ji did very well in the original song. In a professional setting, Hariharan would certainly sing this song much better than Kishore Kumar in terms of notes.

Had this been a fact then Sir RD Burman sahab would not have rolled out song out of the studio to be picturised on Sanjeev Kumar sahab.

You are absolutely correct - if you have to improvise any song - then do it in your own song or own composition - Moreover this song " tere Bina zindegi " had been sung so wonderfully - that it's next to impossible to overdo this song in manner whatsoever.
