I love the Anglican Church and actually have adopted a lot from them. For example I use the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and I also use Anglican Rosaries all though I am a Presbyterian I realize that the Westminster Confession of Faith was created in England but never adopted fully by the church that is the only thing that stops me from becoming full on Anglican I am loyal to the Westminster however, I love my Anglican brothers and sisters

Thank you for your caring, sharing and incredible efforts, in bringing this video and others, I am watching from Chicago, it's a lovely summer day, I am hearing The Word, drinking tea, enjoying the smell of a grill in our apartment back yard. The freedom we enjoy and take seriously is a daily privilege we do not take for granted. Through the blessing of media, I can hear the word, any day and any time. 💠 Bless you, again. 🤟

Cool video! It seems kind of difficult to find good videos on this topic. Makes me realize how many beliefs I share with Classical Anglicans. Its sad that the church is currently the way it is.

I found this video quite interesting for a few reasons. Having been raised in the United Presbyterian Church which is now PCUSA, I have always found an affinity with the Anglican or Episcopal Church. In fact in the 1950s I believe there was dialogue that these 2 church denominations would merge together. There is a strong kinship with this line of Reformed churches. For the Presbyterians were offshoots of the Roman Catholics, however also in Scotland where the denomination was born with John Knox, there were strong Anglican ties as well. I think the Presbyterian church as always had a stong understanding of its views of the Holy Catholic and Apostolic church, hence our reciting of the Apostles and Nicene Creed usually at every service. I think the new Hyper Calvinists/ Evangelicals are really not reformed at all. Their emphasis on the TULIP acronym is merely a modern attempt to attach to themselves some of Calvin's beliefs. But if they were truly Reformed they would have a more advanced understanding of his Institutes as you pointed out and that would effect other points of their doctrine, which it does not. So thank you for your wonderful presentation. As a mainline Presbyterian, much like the Scots that came over to visit their families as the Presbyterian Church was started here in the states, they felt more akin to the Anglicans than they did to some Presbyterians that had aligned themselves with the Puritans. In the Mainline Presbyterians much of that has been corrected and also with some Mainline Reformed. However one will always find offshoots of these groups, as well as a few in the PCA that are Hyper Calvinists. PCUSA is not in the Presbyterian denominations nor are Cumberland Presbyterians. By the way my particular church is very much in between I would say a High and Low Anglican church. Blessings to you.

I find it interesting that no matter the Church tradition or expression, the sharpest line of division always falls between those who amplify the ‘free will’ of man (not a biblical term) and those who amplify the sovereignty of God in salvation. Whatever the practice, from complicated ecclesiastical structures to home meetings, this is the ultimate dividing line. The rest - “low” vs “high” vs “broad”, sacramental vs simple, are almost entirely “things indifferent.” Even as a convinced Reformed man, I could easily worship with or without “smells and bells,” vestments, intinction, acolytes, and all the rest. If they are there or absent, it makes little difference to me. If both continuity with the ancient Church is affirmed, and the sovereignty of God in our salvation is celebrated in line with St Paul and St John, what more can one ask for?

My friends are fascinated by the old saying, 'Calvinism: Everywhere hated.' My sister studied French Literature but would have gone through her life without giving French-speaking Calvin a thought since he has always been persona non grata in France. My interest in this great reformer was only kindled in my later years when I came across his masterpiece, The Institutes, followed by his Bible Commentaries published by Eerdmans. The commentary on the Gospel of John is well worth reading. An article in the Banner of Truth Magazine by David F Wells (KZfaq) said that the last Calvinist fathers of France died in the 1930s. It was sad to see that the Reformation Monument in Geneva, featuring Calvin and others, being daubed in paint during a gay pride rally.

Many thanks for this irenical and erudite post. There is never enough time but you might have mentioned in passing the Wesleyan protest against Calvin's doctrine of double predestination. In practice Arminian beliefs on this matter seem to have become the default even in supposedly Reformed Anglican circles, I suspect

The problem is that Calvin`s view on predestination and limited atonement is the core of his system.
@jonathanphelps1886
@jonathanphelps1886 3 ай бұрын
No it isn’t 😂! Luther spoke more on predestination than that of Calvin. And I dont think you understand the acronym of tulip? Limit Atonement only means the ones who are saved are the followers of Christ. Christ Death is sufficient for all, but only efficient for the elect.
@pepehaydn7039
@pepehaydn7039 3 ай бұрын
Sufficient and efficient means NOTHING because all can appropriate These terms with different meanings. Actually, the Redemption is INsufficient on the Part of God, because anything ELSE Must be added for it to be SUFFICIENT. This one thing that Must be added is election. In other words: election/predestination is the only thing truly sufficient and efficcient in agustinism, calvinism, jansenism and bañezism, up to the Point that Christ is UNneccesary.

@@pepehaydn7039 Actually do you believe the word is infallible & God breathed? If you do how do you interpret Ephesians 1:4-5 Ephesians 1:4 = For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will. The Bible literally says we were predestined. How do you interpret 2 Timothy 1:9 2nd Timothy 1:9 = who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began. Before the ages began before the world began, Christ already died for the elect Proverbs 16:4 = The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble. If the Lord has truly made the wicket for the day of judgment, wouldn’t this mean predestination? This is just a couple verses out of the Bible I know of several more Even Jesus said in John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. Meaning you don’t even have the option of coming to Christ without first the Holy Spirit drawing you.
