Wow, hadn't seen this since I last visited the Coney Island area in 1980, I'd also seen it in 1975 and 1977, this station was still like it was in 1920 only in poor shape. Looks much better now. And back then D line is running past Sheepshead Bay on the Brighton line like the Q does today.

It'd be great if the channel owner or somebody could upgrade these older videos to increase the clarity and resolution with AI scaling. I'd like to compare the graffiti and see what's still around in the later My Experience videos from 2022 through 2024 of these same subway lines.

I was born 2 years later in April 25, 1998.

The 4 train was grimey til the R62s came along. Wasn’t a fan of the redbirds. Always wanted an R62 to show up riding the 4 living in Brownsville Brooklyn. That said, I miss the authenticity of the New York subway system with the conductor calling out the next stop and riding the front car looking out the window. For that I miss the Redbirds. That authenticity is slowly dying with the new trains. And I love the new trains.

If you look at Canals now abandoned side in this video. You can see a dual sided staircase that is cinderblocked off. That was closed roughly mid 80s to early 90s

These trains may get scraped Ang get replaced with the r262

R.I.P R42 (M) trains 1970-2008.

By October 29, 2002, a majority of the R142As were in service and in mid-2003, the MTA bought a supplementary order of 80 additional R142As, they were delivered in 2004-05 and by June 2005, all were in service. The last R142s were delivered by March 2003. Both fleets started construction in 1998 and production of the trains lasted until mid-2003.

Man i miss the 90s. We went to the Bronx zoo summer of 97 and took this train. Long train ride from Flatbush ave stop.

Sadly, the 9 Broadway Seventh Avenue Local was replaced with the 1 train on May 29, 2005 and now makes all 9 stops. R.I.P 9 train 1989 - 2005. The South Ferry Loop Station is no longer used in passenger service sadly. R.I.P loop station July 10, 1905 - June 27, 2017.

Talking about R142As, one can be seen at 49:27!!!

Yesterday was 23 years to the day!!! The IRT Pelham Line and IRT Lexington Avenue Line 4, 5, 6 trains are now full of R-142s, R-142As and R-62As. I wish the Redbirds were still running, I miss them so much and it’s a pity that the last two car classes, R33s and R36WFs were retired in 2003. I was born a year later in 2004 so I couldn’t ride them unfortunately, because I wasn’t born yet.

I really miss those REDBIRD Subway Train on the number 2&4&5&7 line 😢

I remember in those times, the redbirds were almost always used as locals ending in Parkchester, so getting on one going express was uncommon. Same thing in the morning, the redbirds were sent up to Parckchester to run as locals.

To think that this car, if it wasn't one of the few preserved, is now at the bottom of the ocean with fish calling it home.

Those cars were in service while the 9 train was still a thing.

6:30 Slow it down enough and you will see it says 5551 that was the car that got shot up back in April 2022. Eerie!
