Your garden is looking awesome despite the gopher. We had a gopher in May, but we had a very hot and dry spell in June and the gopher disappeared. The Saint John River is only a 5-7 minute walk to our house but I think the gopher relocated to be even closer to the river. I love all your different peppers. I've got yellow, red, and lilac bells. Then some jalapeños, purple cayennes, and Fireworks ornamentals. We're just starting to enjoy our tomatoes and raspberries as well!

At 88f I would seriously consider 50% shade cloth if it can lower the 10f it’s said to lower. As you know in the basil 🌿 I have some part for morning sun for 2:30 hours and one part for 7 hours and those get from 87f to 93f in the time I measured and the ones in the morning with less than 3 hours of direct sunshine 🌞 produced 1oz when I harvest the same as those having 7 hours of sun. The harsh heat made it in vain for them to be over 4 hours more exposed and not just that about growth but the look of them all blasted with white spots from burns and lighter colored green leaves whereas the ones in the morning sun where healthier looking with darker green and thicker more succulent stems. Also ambient air temperatures are marked as 89f for example but those are marked in the shade and under sunlight from 10am to afternoon is a lot hotter than said in the air temps and plants suffer accordingly. I thought 73f were cold for basil 🌿 and tom toms. But when realized that with sunshine ☀️ 73f is actually around 85f (about the best for rapid growth in a basil experiment) then I understood that even past 79f these plants are not at their best and more sunlight under this heat is not more and better growth. God helped me understand all this

@@MidwestGardener thanks for yours too. God has helped you a long way too and I wondered if you will sell your varieties to be a legacy and stay on the market since those are interesting and we’ve seen it documented step by step hehe. So are the tomatoes 🍅 varieties you shaded not grown in your garden because of that they didn’t do well even with that? (Also thank you on triying them with these extreme conditions to report those that taste good and are adapted to those heatwaves better)

@@xaviercruz4763 There are a few of my pepper varieties out there that can be purchased, but they are mostly ornamentals. Many of the tomatoes that I grow are dwarf tomatoes from the dwarf tomato project. They can be found online in many places. I hope to make more of my peppers available online once I've got them a little more stable. I tend to grow tomatoes that will produce a decent amount in our heat. Some years, it doesn't seem to matter which ones I grow because of the heat.

FYI, for me at least covering the cross pollenated blossom with a small ziplock bag has resulted in blossom drop 100 percent of the time. I usually try to pollenate the pistol until i see a good "blob" of pollen so i know no other pollen can get in. In my experience superhots are the hardest to ceoss pollenate as it seems they are the worst for not taking. The last 2 varieties i crossed had a 1/ 10 ratio. Your success rate is phenominal co.pared to mine lol. Anyway, nice video, very clear and informative for the novice. Kid in a candy store with an adults pocketbook. At best I can grow maybe 10 different varieties per year and I probably am 5 seasons behind. Oh. bother! As an aside, from the testing done in the matter most all tomatoes have the same acidity, it's just that the ones with a higher brix (sugar) content seem to taste less acidic to us.
