Peugeot. You can tell a bike is french when its all weird sizes.

To change gears on old pre-war bikes you had to take off the rear wheel and turn it around to use the sprocket on the other side of the hub. I had a couple very old bikes with this feature, threads for gears on both sides of the hub. Some had a freewheel on one side and fixed, track style, gear on the other.

Ι prefer hardtails/ not for the lowest cost but bc i prefer their clean look and low cost maintenance . Also a 1.500 hardtail is a very good one but a 2.000 full suspension is a mid one

there is no such thing as cheating in cycling , lance didnt cheat , he smashed those euros to peices with their own programs, give lance his wins back, he was out there like everyone and finished, cheating is only defined by the UCIs rules on substances, thats pretty weak seeing as they change it to suit themsleves so they can control who can be the best !!!!!!!

The book "Butcher, Blacksmith, Acrobat, Sweep" is a great read documenting the first Tour de France. It is incomprehensible to us now how the riders completed such a test. Oh, did I mention they rode at night a good deal of the time?

The next innovation is high speed wheel balance systems. Fact is, balanced wheels on a bike offer far more performance than aerodynamics on a bike. But if you combine the two, things get real fast real quick.

Great job, I really enjoyed the history and the tech. What about, "the history of tour support?" When did the racers stop changing their own tires when they flat? When did the tours go from individuals to teams? When did the support system begin: team cars, spare bikes, team bus, mechanics bus, etc. etc. I would think this would be more difficult to research butI know you guys can do it.

1956 Tour De France was won by Roger Walkowiak riding a Riva Sport bicycle built by Alphonse Thomann who built several TDF bicycles. I own a 1956 frame built by Riva Sport Cycles. It has Vitus tubing and Nervex Lugs. I set this frame up as fixed gear with a rim choice that will support large tires. I run 33cm tires. i ride this bicycle regularly and is a great ride. Btw, it was 1965 that Gimondi rode the Bianchi with all the new Campagnolo parts like new hub and brakes. Great video and thanks

Quite hilarious and sad you ignored the 7 year dominance of Trek winning with Lance, 2006 was BMC's first victory and Specialised's first victory on 2010 was with Alberto at Astana.

Freeze development sometime between 1990 and 2000. Similar to the "athlete's hour." The racing would be just as good, if not better. Normal people could afford a competitive race bike. Mechanics wouldn't have to buy all new tools every few years. Yea, pretty much everything would be better.

I loved the caveat about knowing that the athletes, not the bikes win the tour, but let's be honest... throughout long periods of the history you covered it was the doping (mech, pharm, etc.) that pushed select riders and bikes ahead of their peers.

"The top spot temporarily went back to Europe with Cervelo winning the Tour in 2008." Gerard Vroomen and Phil White would like a word with you. Cervelo was a Canadian company in the 2000s. And YOU made the choice not to cover all the Trek models Lance won on, which would have made this video better. Don't act like you could not, because the UCI stripped Armstrong of his titles. The entire sport was doped to the gills from the early 90s until . . .well it probably still is. It's silly to pretend Armstrong didn't win the Tour. If he didn't win, no one won anything.
