Totally the opposite to another professional stained glass video. The other says to use 60/40 to fill gaps between foiled pieces, then 50/50 for the rounded follow up. I wish there was a proper techniques agreement between tutors, as now it's back to learning the hard way.

Thanks so much for the video. It was very informative and I am very interested in making one myself. Where would be the best place for me to find patterns for mission style lamps?

I borrowed one of these from a local stained glass shop. It work great, so I bought one. I sometimes have trouble with the new one tearing the foil at the corner of the glass. Is there a break-in period with these or maybe just the fact that I was using a different glass? Have you seen this issue?

Thank you so very much for this video. You've reinforced what I had suspected about the adhesiveness of older foil. My question at the moment is: Are all copper foils the same, ie, is copper foil for stained glass and leadlighting different to other types of copper foil that I see on the internet?

Awesome video, great info. Questions: I saw 3M Venture on eBay less expensive than the Studio Pro type. Do you think that's okay. I'm new and haven't cut one piece of glass yet, just doing my research and you really helped:) From Florida.

Nice history lesson but I've bought 4 or 5 different glass cutters. Just wanted to cut clear glass for windows. I've yet to find one that works. Glass always breaks away from the score or cracks. So my question would be is there one that works well?

This guy seems way above most. Pay attention to how he holds his running plies. One other added technique is lay down a thick newspaper to put the glass on. It has a little give and allow the score to separate easier.

to make a wider foil, can you overlap it? I have a great deal of 3/16" and would like to overlap in the joint between pieces to create a 5/16" seam. Please send me a note to [email protected] Thanks, Marilyn

Foiling by hand takes a bit of practice, but it is faster and does a better job. Also, these kinds of foiling machines do not foil many shapes that one may use.
