It's still pretty prevalent. It's not quite as commonly performed the same as the other staples like salsa or waltzing but I have a feeling that's just because of social pressure from the elders of society. When the people who grew up doing this stuff become the elders, break dancing won't be considered so "dirty" or "crude" or whatever people seem to negatively view it as. Same as any new thing that pops up.

Fun fact for older movie buffs. The famous device used in men in black were a nice rip off of the devices used in a fun movie from 1981 called Looker. Albert Finney and Susan Dey

one of them most insane characters hollywood actor hal j. smth did in his career -- starring as mother goose in full drag. The live action at the end of the movie isn't rated G ! Hal J. Smith agreed to do the movie - only if his name wasn't used in the credits to help don jurwich. june foray and paul winchell were asked to do voices -- but they said, "No way in hell we can do voices for an adult cartoon." But Hal J. Smith didn't care. He was a huge part of this now classic insane cartoon movie.

Was this shot on 8mm? I thought most of this stuff would've been done shot on video by the mid 1980s?
@barefootandindependent
@barefootandindependent 23 күн бұрын
It’s either 16mm or 35mm… I can’t really tell from this transfer. Definitely not super 8. But you’re 100% correct, in 1986 most people had switched to video. But a lot of the bigger guys owned their own film cameras so they were still shooting film. But still, you have to pay for the film stock and develop it. Even if you own your own camera that’s still pretty pricey! But the main thing…. (makes me want to delete what I just said) was the stigma of film VS video. The “real” movies were shot on film and the “hacks” moved to video. Remember that scene in Boogie Nights when Burt Reynolds didn’t want to switch to videotape 😂
@patchchrist
@patchchrist 23 күн бұрын
@@barefootandindependent I thought it was more likely 16mm or 35mm rather than Super 8, but I can't help but think it kinda looks like what was left of 80's Super 8 film.
