Thank you for the response. I have another short film about Bacon's art I will publish in the near future. I am also a painter and I made these films in preparation for a copy of a Bacon painting I'm about to do. On my KZfaq channel I have done films about other artists and art. Among them a film about Francisco Goya, Black Square by Kazimir Malevich, Basquiat, and others.

Interesting video! If I could offer a couple of critiques: 1) I found the logic of the video a little hard to follow 2) The volume needs to be more consistent; the talking sections (and the opening scene) were too quiet. Best wishes to you.
@littleghostfilms3012
@littleghostfilms3012 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the view and comment. As regards any logic to the video, I would say that logic was not my main concern, if by that you mean some linear point A to point B flow. There is an artistic logic that can be discerned depending on how much you know of Debbie Harry, Basquiat, and the NY underground world. The first scene and the last scene are both from the underground film "The Foreigner" '78. The last scene in which Debbie's character Dee Trick (a nod to Marlene Dietrich) says "Got a cigarette blondie?" comes right before the clip of her singing the "Bilbao" song in the opening scene. In the film there is an internal artistic logic in which I show Debbie's early beginning in NJ with a quick view of early 1950's American culture. I proceeded in the film being inspired to jump around to show different and unusual aspects of Debbie's life in art. I wanted to surprise and make the viewer intrigued by what they were watching. I was also showing something of Debbie's connection with painter Jean-Michel Basquiat. There is also a 'logic' to the connection from photographer Weegee to Andy Warhol, who he photographed to Debbie Harry and Basquiat who became a dear friend of Warhol.

The shooter in Uvalde bought his guns legally right after he turned 18. He was a problem. And I can tell you that there are many other people who buy their guns legally and then later have a crisis, lose it, and then go on a shooting rampage. The problem isn't just illegal guns. It's legally bought guns in the hands of people who are unfit to have a gun. And further AR15s which are specifically designed for battle to kill as many people as possible quickly have no purpose in society. We all know this, So the thesis of your post makes no sense.

My ridiculous homage to that song. Her whole album from last year "Fetch the Bolt Cutters" I felt was the best record put out all last year! Every song gets it's hooks in me. @@lizbourn4192 Yes. I think I called them Test Pattern because I've been looking at a lot of stock footage of video graphics on the editing site i use for these films. I love Laibach. I like how they make use of the tropes of propaganda and militarism and subvert them to turn that stuff into an artistic project. Some misconstrue them as fascistic but that is incorrect. They play with the surfaces of fascism as a pastiche. My Bowie video is up. It's called 3 Ghosts.

@@littleghostfilms3012 test Dept are anarchists in the true definition as am I. They are very left wing politically and my friend who introduced me to Billy nomates is one of the musicians in the video that you watched, don’t know which one he is because it’s a very old video. Look at some more of their stuff. They are an “experience” rather than a concert touring band. Takes so much time and space to set up so that it’s really only a couple of nights in any one space like deserted rail depots. Anywhere unused. They’ve been around since the very early 80’s and they fascinate me. Will look at your new video in a minute.

@@lizbourn4192 I was thinking the other day about Sleaford Mods when you talked about them that you as a British person probably have a pretty keen understanding of a lot of the references to aspects of working class life and other cultural things that they convey in their songs. I understand a fair amount even as an American because I've been absorbing British culture, among others, since I was a kid from movies, music and books. From childhood I was obsessed over movies with actors like Albert Finney, Rita Tushingham, Oliver Reed, Helen Mirren, up through to Ray Winstone, Mike Leigh and Shane Meadow's films. And of course music culture. All those many bands, ska groups, the Jam, the Stranglers, Ian Dury, the Fall. So when I listen to S Mods I pick up on a lot but some stuff sails over my head. All that gritty street level lyrics. I go to a lyric site called Genuis Lyrics that is great! They have all S Mods lyrics and they have blue highlighted areas where you can go to a side field and get an explanation as to what the line means. Sometimes it's from the artist themselves or someone else telling you. I've gone to the site a lot when I listen to Jason's rant's. Anyway, again much appreciation to exchange missives and for your interest in the videos. I do them purely as an artistic expression and would do them still even if nobody responded but having some positive response is of course wonderfu! I'll continue putting more up and want to tell you that I've loved hearing your ideas!
