This isn’t a song about waiting for a savior to liberate us. It’s a song about fighting for that liberation NOW, to bring about that day ourselves.

This performance is a while back, but still remains powerful as ever. I shared this with Palestinian friends who are in dire state at the moment more than ever ...

Dr King, Doğum günün kutlu olsun. ''We Shall Overcome'' şarkısını, mezun olduğun okulun korosundan bir kaç kez üst üste dinledim. Şarkının derin ve olağanüstü güzelliğiyle hem büyülendim hem hüzünlendim

Brings tears to my eyes. May it be so. Kortland, I know you are part of an amazing musical family. Was Wendell Whalum your grandfather? I loved his choral arrangements, and of course, no one presents them more powerfully than the Morehouse College Glee Club. (I was fortunate to grow up in Atlanta.)

They'll probably still be singing this in the year 3984. When the world is populated by only black peoples. No Asians or Muslims and especially no Whites. Just Africans. Looking to "overcome".

I am White, and I know that as a country, we will overcome the wicked legacy of the past hand in hand and unafraid despite attempts by the likes Trump and DeSantis to reinflame outdated tensions for political gain. I look forward to the day when race is no longer a factor in judging the worth or Americanness of our fellow countrymen and brothers and sisters in Christ, many of whom have deeper roots here than most others.
