Epic uses the listenable or subscribable interface for their devices Where subscribe really just takes in the method to add to an array of callbacks when signaled. And signal just calls every method in an array of “callbacks” with whatever payload was signaled. A bit of a pain to get setup but well worth it.

Unless Epic has upgraded Verse, I couldn't figure it out back when the video was recorded. It's entirely possible they have changed things enough to make it possible now. I apologize for the video being out of date, but I haven't even actively built things in Verse for the last four or so months.

@@choudclucker At the time I read a bunch of documentation and tried to do it their way. I'm pretty sure that under the hood most of the devices are still written in C++. You may be right, though.

how did you create the spline at first place !!?? I am coming from UE5 and I don't find how to make splines, there is only from landscape which is not the best way. This UEFN is freaking limited and frustrating to work with.

Yeah, it's truly annoying sometimes. Create the spline by placing the rail. What you end up with is a set of objects - beginning and endpoint with a spline between them. Then you can manipulate the spline to your liking.

It has different areas to click, I right-clicked the hell out of it even knowing right-clicking gives you the add spline and couldn't get it for a while.

Just a short tip: when you select something in VSCode and press CTRL+D you'll select the following sentence exactly like the previous one. It's a great and very useful shortcut :p

Hey, i love your videos and to be honest they have helped me out in alot of scenarios. However past few months ive been stuck on something. Maybe you can help me. Hi, I've been working on a duos zonewars map, where players choose their desired team. I am stuck on how to save the teams each round. I tried using a save device, but that would save the teams even after the player has left the game and rejoined at a later time, which is NOT what I want. I want it so that the teams save in that current session only, and when the player leaves and rejoins later in the day, that they have to re pick a team. I saw nowhere on the save device about an option where player data can be reset/deleted after they leave the game. Can anyone help with this? I would like it to be the same system that the map: 1688-9738-8998 uses. each time I join the game, I have to choose a team. If I leave the match, it does not save my team, but each round I spawn on the same team I selected. For example, at the start of the game if I pick team 8, I want to stay on team 8 for all rounds of the game until A. I leave the match or B. The game ends because all rounds are completed.

How do you handle a tie? I'm trying to get it to randomize between 2 (or more) tied selections by tinkering with the GetWinningClass method but I can't get the syntax right.

I don't even think of them like that. From my point of view quaternions are a mathematical model that don't really have a physical analogue that makes sense. That's kinda the point of the first half of the video; quaternions are useful for accomplishing a task; they are not something for you to try and think about visibly. When I started thinking about them as a framework that stays consistent rather than an actual physical model, they made a lot more sense.

Would you be able to make a tutorial going over tuples and map functions in Verse? Arrays would be fine as well but I think the first 2 are a little more difficult to understand how to work with.

Is there a limit to XP to be awarded? What's stopping a map maker from just using "Extra large reward" on all their accolades?

It's all managed through XP Calibration. What the 'big exp' maps do is abuse the system with a lot of playtime and weirdly hidden accolades, I think.

The only ways I know of to do it are pretty error prone. You could use the save point device to save player classes, and then detect whether players had classes before starting the vote before the next round. This would, however, have issues with players that left before finishing a full game.

What happens if two or more classes tie? Also what kind of modification would have to be made to feed the highest voted class at the end of a timer instead of having to have a player manually interact with the end vote button?

Ties: The lower class ID wins. You could change this in the "GetWinningClass" function. Timer: replace the 'button' class in test_class_switch_hookup_device with a Timer device and subscribe to the OnSuccess event. Start the timer on Game Start.

The concept is a point control game where you shot the points instead of capturing them through standing on them. The traditional 'domination' game mode, but with a twist. I thought it was fun when I played it on launch, but it kinda died.

Hey, so i want to make a map similar to those popular zone wars maps, however I want to make a gun voting system, where you vote on the first round for what type of guns you want and then it is saved throughout the rest of the rounds, this code seems like it could be used, however there’s some things I’d like to change, I’d want to change the button vote to a rift that counts votes, i can make the rift teleport players to another area after votes so it doesn’t spam vote. Also, i want the players to be able to choose between RNG and NO RNG, having issues with the class system when I tried to implement it, how do I ensure that all players stay on each mode throughout all the rounds

To the best of my knowledge, you can't save data between rounds. The game state just isn't set up to allow you to do that kind of thing. 'Rounds' are, in my experience, actually pretty buggy in UEFN.

Is there a way to make it so the player doesn’t destroy objects in their way on the rail? I’ve been trying to make a obstacle course with hazard moving along the rail, and since you can’t make moving Damage Volumes, I’ve been trying to just use a Prop Mover to move the object and make it cause damage. But since grind rails just make the player destroy objects in the way, you don’t take any damage. Does anybody know of any workarounds?

You can move a damage volume using a sequencer I just played around to make sure it works & it did so that would damage players or you could even kill them if you made the damage high enough, you might even be able to add objects and disable the collision on them and have the damage volume working alongside the object so it looks like it is going through you and damaging at the same time
