best emcee i’ve ever seen. such a special experience

I thought I knew what it felt like to get goosebumps when listening to a song that feels like it transcends past just a simple listening experience. But this. This was simply breathtaking, enthralling and overall just every synonym for magnificent there can be. Insane performance, absolute chills. Took me to another place, felt like I was listening to it live with my own ears

I went to see Cabaret tonight at a local theater. It was my favorite film growing up into this day remains as so. I was quite shocked to see that highschoolers were the ones performing all of my favorite raunchy bits😂😅🤦🏼‍♀️🥴

I saw Cabaret the other night. I won't say too much (Keep it in the Kit Kat Club lol) but oh my gosh, from the second we stepped into the building it felt like I was really in the Kit Kat Club. The most incredible show I've ever seen, and one of the most incredible experiences of my life. This cast is SPECTACULAR! I cried multiple times, sometimes just because of how beautiful and fun the performance was. The only negative things I could say was that I feel like it was trying to be a certain thing...and failed? Idk lol. It didn't deliver the message of what was really happening the way it could have. It also lacked romance/seductiveness at certain parts (especially during Mein Herr) and I personally think there was too much yelling (instead of singing, though i understand what she was trying to do) from Amy specifically (i just feel like that makes it harder to connect to the preformance 🤔) but I absolutely LOVED her as Sally!!! Eddie Redmayne was BORN for this role (the emcee)... I'm so amazed by this production! DEFINITELY worth seeing, I wish I could see it again 🥹

See, to me, I Don't Care Much is to the Emcee as Cabaret is to Sally. This song is this character's emotional climax the way the title song is Sally's emotional climax. I think most people who truly understand the Emcee (Alan Cumming and Mason Alexander Park come to mind, but there have been plenty of others--including high schoolers, btw) understand the gravity of this song and treat it with respect. I think the problem is that Eddie Redmayne doesn't see the Emcee as a person with thoughts and emotions. He just sees the front the Emcee puts up. But the Emcee is supposed to drop that front for this song.

I didn't know who Rhea was prior to seeing her in Cabaret a few days ago, and my god she was just astonishing. Absolute perfection. She wore her heart on her sleeve and poured emotion out of every pore - it was an honour to experience it. I hope she goes far!

I’m an American who only knows of Rhea through heartstopper and to be honest she is just phenomenal and breathtaking with this rendition of maybe this time because it reminded me of my performance of the song that I did in the spring at my college’s recital.

Why did it take so long until the great Jane Horrocks and now the great Amy Lennox finally got that Sally Bowles is not cute, is not an ingenue. Sally is a train wreck, a mess, an emotional breakdown in slow motion. Cabaret is not a cheerful work, it's about the nightmare of a societal collapse. Everyone in it is barely holding on by their fingernails.
