I use pint mason jars and never have to recharge with more liquid. At the end of the season I use my vacuum sealer and remove all the air from the jars and this maintains the liquid with zero loss through the long winter. I use pint jars as they are easy to handle, very hard to break, and the sealing factor.

Honestly I went back to carrying an ultra light setup with me. Sometimes targeting bass and larger fish in my area is tough. Nothing like hooking up some crappie and blue gill back to back. I shelled up money for a decent ultralight setup to enjoy. Will try that st croix pan fish rod one of these days!

Hello Johnny. New to the channel. I ordered gulp from a tackle store online and received some paddle tails but the container was marked " Freshwater". Didn't want to bother sending them back so I used them for Blues and Striped bass in the salt. They worked great. Do you know if there's any difference in the juice and can I mix them in a container?

I can't seem to find the Okuma in anything but a two-piece rod. Is that what you are using? I don't see a product link for these rods. Loved the video and I appreciate the differing perspectives. I am a novice but super fast does not seem to be the best tool for a "paper mouth" fish!

Hey @rickr9055... my apologies for not including the links... I will definitely work to update the rest of my videos. Thanks for tuning in and leaving your comment. I love hearing from you guys!! Yes, I do use the two piece. I'm normally not a fan of the two piece rods, but with the Celilo I haven't noticed a difference in 1 piece vs 2 piece, the graphite is still very sensitive. The link you are looking for is right here (sorry about that): amzn.to/3wKyjVh This will bring you to an amazon page with multiple length rods. For bank fishing I'd recommend the 5'6" or 6'6" (depending on the overhangs, and coverage your fishing under) for kids I'd recommend the 5' rod, its easier for them to handle. If you are interested in the other gear I cover in the videos these are some of the links to the reels and other rods I discuss in this video and other ultralight videos on the channel. Serious question, wouldn’t a fast action be better for finesse fishing. It seems to me you don’t have as much control over a lure with a moderate action
@Johnnyfishalot
@Johnnyfishalot 7 күн бұрын
Thanks so much @911life5... Great question! Thanks for tuning in and leaving a comment I really appreciate it. I don't believe you loose any control with a moderate action rod and finesse fishing with ultralight. Keep in mind you are throwing really light lures and using really light gear with these fish. It doesn't take much action at all to move an ultralight lure through the water column. A lot of times the mistake people make is they use fast and extra fast action rods and smallest movement of the rod will cause a very erratic action of the lure... Sometimes you can get away with it, sure, but a lot of times, especially with finesse fishing you need a lot more subtle movements of the lure underwater and that is where you can really benefit from a moderate action rod. sharper movements of the rod will less erratically move your lures to trigger more bites... I would argue you actually have much more control with a moderate action rod for finesse fishing and ultralight... does not make sense? Hopefully that helps. I really prefer the moderate action rods for both control over the finesse lures AND for setting the hook. extra fast action rods will actually rip hooks out of the fish's mouth, there's just not much give to those extra fast action rods. Sorry for the long answer, but I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks so much for the question and comment.

i use the alberto for very fine flouro where the fg seems to mangle the knot every time i really cinch it down. i don't care for how the knot goes through the guides. the tag is exposed on the way out of the guides when you cast. i may experiment with putting some glue down.
@Johnnyfishalot
@Johnnyfishalot 10 күн бұрын
Hey @peter-zg3em... you are 100% correct... The alberto knot is not the best for going through the guides... since you have to fold over the mono or the fluoro then attach the braid it is one of the bulkier line to line connection knots... Really the best/strongest knot for this is the FG or PR knot, butttttt if you don't like those knots, which is perfectly up to personal preference, you may want to try the double uni knot... that will at least be lower in diameter than the albert (though not as low as the FG), but much easier to tie than the FG knot... Let me know how it goes... thanks so much for the comment and for tuning in!!

@Johnnyfishalot
@Johnnyfishalot 10 күн бұрын
Hello @thedanteboots Thanks so much for tuning in and the comment... I really appreciate it!! I'm so sorry for the late response, been a pretty busy week, BUT Great comment by the way. Definitely one of the limiting factors of an FG knot is 100% line diameter... I don't know what you are using for your main line, but 6lb fluoro is really low in diamtere and the FG knot works best if the leader material is fairly think compared to the main line, this way the braid can bite into it. Too low diameter and you'll experience some slipping of the FG as you have mentioned. The beauty of the double uni, alberto or albriet knot is you do not have to work about the line diameters nearly as much!! I'm glad the alberto is working out for you!! That's great. Love the comment by the way. let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again.

Glad I found your video. Finally someone that is not hung up on super fabulous, super cool and super expensive tackle. I use a lot of fiberglass rods as well as way more expensive ones. Maybe glass rods aren't as sensitive but I usually hold the line and or watch my rod tip. What I absolutely abhor are foam handles. My last Ugly Stick was a $1.00 garage sale pickup that I rebuilt with cork.. (Don't ever let your wife sell your tackle). I agree that 5' or a bit longer is ideal for ultra light. I did build a 10' crappie rod and it's nice for that.

I just bought a Okuma Ceymar OTD tactical green 1000 size. It is a bit smaller than I expected , but it's a great , smooth ultralight reel. I almost got another one to replace a new Lews Smash 3000 . It started grinding and popping. For some reason I got the Kastking Royale Glory. I am impressed with it in every way. It has a high gear ratio , plenty of drag and well made. I think it reminded me of the first fishing combo I brought myself. It is the exact red of a Abu Garcia Cardinal.
