There is no right or wrong way to moor up, it’s what ever works. However there are things that make it easier. The Birmingham hand brake, this works if you have an established ring or bollard, simply tie to the ring or bollard with your centre line, put the engine in gear on tick over and the boat will tighten the line holding it to the bank. Also can I suggest that instead of tying the back first you do the front ! The back is less likely to drift out as it is heavier. The other “trick” is if you have your lines beyond the length of the boat tie your centre line back to one of the mooring points, this will stop a lot of the banging against the bank as boats pass you.

Sorry for your bad news, and I hope the best for your father and family. I lost my father 14 years ago to lung cancer. Had an unexpected little boy just over a year ago and wish every day my father was here to meet him. Keep posting your video's even if it only takes you mind off somehow for 5 mins it will help. Hi, Betty. I was a bit slow to get to your video, as we are away at the moment. I am very sorry to hear about your dad. Have hope. I'm 71 and work as a volunteer on the canals. We are a bunch of about 20 people, mostly old geezers, like myself. Several of them have had prostate cancer, and are living to tell the tale. He stands a good chance. As well as the treatment the NHS gives him, which I am sure will be fine, can I suggest other stuff? Fasting. Just eat in a window of, say, 1pm to 8pm. Cut out ultra processed foods. Cut back on carbs a bit. All of these will slow the progression while the treatment gets a grip. Sorry if I sound a bit whacky. My mum lived in Brierley Hill for about 20 years. I used to walk on the canal to Merry Hill. Be well.

Ageing parents with health issues are a big worry. Been through it myself. It often helps to share and just talk it out, and find you aren't alone. I totally understand what you said about being on the move. I find it very soothing and great for my head.

So sad to hear that mate. My mum had a stroke 3 months after retirement, the sad truth is we are never far away from bad news. I hope u feel better, find somthing to take your mind off it if u can. Ps.... Get a bike you can fit in your boat and car x

I had prostate cancer 14yrs ago, I went to the Drs for another ailment but they found the cancer doing another test. They removed 20% of the prostate and everything good now. Positive mindset at all times got me through the dark times and there was a few of them!! Sending love to you,your mum & positive vibes to your dad 🙏❤️

So sorry to hear about your Dad. I won't say try not to worry, but my Dad had the same thing, and it was quite bad, about 10 years ago. He had to go through some quite rigorous treatment, but he did make a full recovery. I hope you find this an encouragement and that it turns out the same for your Dad. And you're right. It's absolutely vital that men get tested, and are clued up about the symptoms. Just to try and lighten the mood a bit and hopefully make you smile, my Dad said he only went to the Drs in the first place because he'd got a really itchy bum! 😁😁

So sorry to hear your dad's condition I lost my brother 2 years ago to prostate cancer, he did not seek treatment til it was too late please tell everyone to seek treatment as soon as you realise your unwell or go and ask your GP to get checked early as it is treatable in its early stages❤ hope everything goes well for you!
