OK ... My First night in the Marine Corps - we all went into the showers with our brand new shaving kits - which were not marked yet with our names. So - I put mine down where I would be able to find it - took a shower and came back to find it gone. I was in a panic for losing my shaving kit and asking around if anyone had seen one like mine. The Platoon Commander yelled in there that we were not supposed to be talking. So I whispered - but he heard me - and called me out. He asked me why I was talking and I told him someone had stolen my shaving kit. He punched me in the mouth and said _"Well, you better shit one!"_ I said _"Aye, aye, Sir!"_ turned around went back in the shower and grabbed the first one I saw. The thing is - there were 70 Shaving Kits that went into that shower and 70 shaving kits that were going to come out. It didn't really matter who ended up with which one. The point was - *_I WAS VIOLATING NOISE DISCIPLINE_* . There was NO EXCUSE for violating noise discipline. If you are in combat and violate noise discipline for *_ANY REASON_* you might alert the enemy to your presence and then they might be killing you and your buddies - instead - of you killing them. This is deadly Serious Shit. My Platoon Commander was *_RIGHT_* to punch me in the mouth. *_Trip - deserved to be flogged._* It didn't matter why he had gone off - he had violated discipline - and he DESERVED to be whipped for it. There IS no excuse for violating discipline. What if everyone took off to do what THEY thought they should do any time they thought they should do it? You wouldn't have any unit left. The Military runs on Discipline. No Discipline - no Military - just a mob, each of them doing what seemed to be a good idea at the time. What Trip could have done - was say to one of his superiors - _"Sir. We really need some shoes. Can I go find some?"_ He'd probably be told No - but that would raise the point - again as it seems - that the unit really needed their shoes. _"Sir. I'm havin' some real problems with my feet, Sir. Is there any news on those Shoes?"_ He could have said those things to raise the issue with his superiors - and that would have been great. He would have emphasized the problem to the people who were supposed to doing something about it. It was Shaw's fault they didn't have any shoes. He was letting the Quartermaster jerk him around and needed to take just the approach he did with the man. All this served as a lesson to the men though - that you didn't violate discipline for ANY reason. There is a way to do things in the military - and that is what you have to do. The real tragedy here - is the defiant look on Trip's Face - he just didn't seem to realize that he had been 100% in the wrong. He still thought he was in the right because he really did need shoes. He didn't seem to understand that this was not about him not having shoes - but about violating Discipline. What's very real about this scene - is that new people in the military - don't get that what they think - doesn't count. They are there to do what they are told to do - and they better do it. After enough of them get punished - then they begin to get it. I immediately got why I'd been punched in the mouth. .

About Discipline. They are training these men to march into enemy fire where a lot of them are going to die. A Bad unit - will just run away - and lose the battle. Lose enough battles and you lose the war. If they are going to violate Discipline over shoes - are they going to march out into enemy fire and kill the enemy with their fire? Or are they going to run away? .

I love this trilogy! When you think about it, Blade has a story of typical video game. In the first part main Boss is an evil rebel henchman who wants to posses power of ancient Lords. In second movie main villain is a mutated and misunderstood son of modern Dark Lord, rebellious evil prince. And in the third film the main enemy is ancient Uber Dark Lord himself! Brought back to life after centuries! It’s like some game!😮
