That photo was taken out in Lake Huron coming across Boot and Government Islands, not very protected and it did not look sandy, best check with the locals for suggestions, thanks for watching

Years ago when my at the time I was married my husband and I would go cross-country we would always stop at Carter caves to camp and we only saw a few of the caves and then when I went cross-country with my daughter we only saw a few things, gosh I didn't realize all that stuff was there. Maybe if that would have been our final destination we would have stayed longer but we were just passing through. We stayed at the lodge the last time. Yeah well I hope they replace the beds in the lodge cuz they were lumpy and I left a special embroidered pillow there and they never contacted me.

LOVE the cottages! Perfect, but kinda pricey! The pier is awesome and there's lots of cool nature stuff - eagles, butterflies, mantids, etc.

What size / type of tire were you riding on ? Being all dirt / gravel, would you think a XC mountain bike running 29 X 2.20 tires would be better suited or would a gravel bike with say 700X40 tires ?

25-45 mm / 1-2 inch widths seem to be the best compromise between traction and rolling resistance, since most of our riding is on rails to trails with surfaces ranging from paved to crushed stone

Tread pattern is also a consideration, for paved surfaces a narrow tire with a smoother tread is more comfortable and faster, where as a true mountain bike tire with more width and aggressive tread pattern will work better for mud and sand riding...
